If you want to mount a scope on your SA-22 you need this. What you don't need is to buy the Browning rings to go with them, I have found that the rings that came with my scope work just as well.

It's pricey, but it works.

One word of warning, when I took mine off to put the stock sites back on I noticed there the bluing is scratched off along the outline of this base, so you might want to figure out something to put in between this and your rifle if you don't want it to scratch.

Really adds to shooting fun on my browning A-22 now that I can mount a decent scope. Price is high but about the only choice. Avoid any NuStar Green laser products. Total crap. Didn't think Chinese were still importing total crap to us and we keep buying it.

I purchased this mount for my Browning SA-22 rifle (1975 vintage). I mounted it the other night and found out that the barrel would not come off with it mounted. The barrel would 1/4 turn, but the mount would hit the side of the receiver and not allow the barrel to pull away from the receiver. It just barely hit. I ended up making a .020" thick plastic spacer and mounted it between the barrel and mount. This fixed the problem. I was very disappointed in this since I bought the Browning brand mount, which first came out about 40 years ago, and it still doesn't fit right.

A perfect fit for my SA-22 rifle using a Leupold 2X-7X rimfire scope. Few alternatives out there. The Leupold mount does not allow the scope to be positioned rearward as far compared to the Browning. Add to that the Leupold is not as aesthetically pleasing. The really cheap aluminum mounts I would not even consider for use on such a beautiful rifle. The only downside is the cost - of course once bought it is good for a lifetime of use.

I you need a scope on a Browning SA-22 you really have no choice but to buy this adapter. It is expensive for what it, is but if you buy it from Amazon (I did) or Optics Planet it is roughly half the price of the Browning suggested MSRP.
This said, it does work perfectly, you can easily attach a scope (with the Browning Rings, see my review) and still take advantage of the take down capability of the SA-22.
One word of caution: use blue Loctite on the attaching screws, otherwise after 5- rounds they will become loose.

Item was received within a week of the order. This cantilever scope mount functions as described, allowing the Browning to be taken down with the 1/4 turn. I have mounted, zeroed, and tested to this product. I have no issues and serves as a solid base for an accurate scope. I give it 4 stars primarily on price. It shouldn't cost over fifty dollars for a reliable mount made for a .22 long rifle caliber.

A few issues with this base:
1: poorly finished
2: cannot mount on rifle without removing factory rear leaf sight
3: the rear portion of the base, the part that comes over the receiver, has a screw that appears to be used to stabilize the mount. This screw would certainly scratch the receive. Very poor design
I keep reading in these reviews that there is no other options for the Browning SA-22. Not true. Leopold makes a terrific base for 1/2 the money for one listed here. It is steel, extremely well made and does not require the removal of the leaf sight. Guaranteed for life. Google Leupold 1-Piece Dual-Dovetail Scope Base Browning Semi-Auto 22 Rifle Gloss and you will find it.

I bought this Browning base plate because it is basically the only one made for th Brn. SA22 takedown. It is over priced but I needed the best mount for my Nikon 4-12X40 scope, for long range plinking. I am not impressed with Browning cheap scope rings but again this is the best set up
