Just like many of the other reviewers, I picked this up at Wal-Mart thinking I was saving money (had always used Frontline/Advantix)... stupid. Didn't use it right away, but a few weeks later, found a couple ticks on Kayla girl so I plucked em off, put em in a bottle cap, and applied a tube of this crap onto her back as directed. I gave the ticks a couple drops just to see how they reacted to it, as well. Within no more than 5 minutes after applying it to Kayla, she started acting funny, pacing back and forth and looking very panicked. I noticed that drool was beginning to literally pour out of her mouth (she doesn't normally drool). She hadn't licked any of the chemical, as I was watching her the entire time. So, I hopped online to check this stuff out (why I didn't do that BEFORE i purchased it, I dunno... stupid). I came across thousands of warnings of its toxicity and how it harms and even kills dogs. I rushed her to the bathroom and thoroughly scrubbed her down with lots of soap. After rinsing her, she was back to normal... calm, no drooling, no pacing. As for the two ticks soaking in the Hartz Ultraguard? Well, they're still alive and currently trying to climb out, and they've been soaking in that crap going on three hours now... This stuff needs to be banned.

We own three dogs and have only use Hartz Pro Drops and they have ALWAYS worked. We've never seen a flea on any of our dogs and if a tick attaches; and we have many around us, it dies immediately and falls off. Also, we use two levels of the drop. We use it for 30 lbs. and under and 50 lbs. and over for out greyhound and we've use it for over 10 years.

We have two dogs, a 60lb lab/shep mix and a 35lb terrier/basenji mix. We had a typical flea population this year but these drops kept our dogs flea free-ish for much less time than the one month advertised. Most other flea treatments we've used (frontline, vet's best, advantage) spread really nicely through our dog's coats, and after a couple of days you can't tell where the initial application was, but the Hartz drops didn't spread out and maintained the single grease patch down the middle of their backs.

Our lab benefitted from the drops for about two weeks on her back and neck area, but we noticed that down on her belly and thighs, there continued to be fleas for the duration. On our smaller dog, the flea problem was a little better, but again did not go away.

We purchased these as the more cost-effective option to spending over $100 for each dog for a 3 month treatment, but sadly with the reapplications necessary to maintain a decent level of coverage, this doesn't come out on top.

works well. we had a HORRIBLE tick problem this year. I dreaded letting the dog out because they always came back covered in ticks. this works well keeps the ticks off and fleas too. the only thing I didn't like was that it made the fur "greasy" where it was applied - even when I got it deep down next to the skin still had a "greasy" appearance for a few days and don't let them roll on furniture or carpet ect when its first it will rub some off and it left some marks I cant clean on my comforter- keep an eye on them for about an hour till its dry.

I see a lot of negative reviews for this item. My dog has yet to complaint about it...as a matter of fact, she gets very happy when I get ready to apply the drops...I guess she doesn't like the mosquitoes...( and I also give her a treat) :-)

I purchased Hartz for my 3 dogs they weigh 17, 43, and 90 lbs. Hartz did the trick. I read the reviews on Hartz Drops and I was affraid at first, but I decided to give it a try, because I noticed that not everyone has a bad experience. My 3 dogs did not get any negative side effect, they did very well, no change in behavior either. I would use this product again. I have searched for fleas on my 17 lb dog, all I found was dead fleas, she still scratches a bit, but I think its cause her skin is still irritated from the flea bites. I also treated my house for fleas, just to be safe. My other two dogs are mostly outside dogs, now I just have to treat the yard for fleas. I have not seen any fleas or ticks on my outside dogs either. The product was easy to use. FYI, Hartz is a pesticide, but Frontline and Advantix are as well. If you look for reviews on other dog drops you will notice that they all have good and bad reviews. I think it just depends on your dog. Hope this information helps

Following two months on this product, we found several ticks burrowed into our Bishon Frise while bathing her. Needless to say, we will not be buying this product again. Even though this product is priced right, we will now spend a little extra for a product that actually works.

This works great. I put it on my dog after giving him a bath and I haven't seen one flea nor does he scratch anymore. He spends a lot of time outdoors and we do have fleas in our yard. We have a HUGE yard so spraying the yard is almost impossible. This works really well though and again, haven't seen a flea on my dog since I put them on there.
