expiration date of 2 + years, they work as expected. I would suggest still using a hydrometer to test specific gravity and a pH meter to test corrosion inhibitor level and these for the nitrate test. As a chemist i have poor faith in the pH indicator and ethyl glycol indicators on the test strip. Good pH strips have multiple pads to identify pH accurately, And a hydrometer is like 5 buck at any parts store on the planet so why guess with a test strip. If I had a good ICP-OES at work like I used to I would do nitrates on it, but since they replaced it and I am too lazy to do a titration at home I will have to make do with nitrate test strips.

My particular bottle has almost 2 years left on it before the expiration date, which is reasonable.

My experience using this product, though, matches that of the first review here.

I mixed Zerex G05 coolant 50/50 with distilled water, taking care to be very precise, and the test strip showed 60%+ glycol (-60F freeze protection). I got the same result using a 50% mix of distilled water and Prestone "any make, any model" extended life coolant (basically it's Dexcool with green dye instead of red).

Dexcool, G05, and the old-school conventional green coolant are all ethylene glycol based coolants, so I can't see any reason the result for "percent glycol" should not be accurate with these strips.

After reading the other review here, I decided also to try the test with just water. I used distilled (pure) water still in the bottle. Sure enough, the result was a freeze protection reading of 10F/-12C, corresponding to 25% glycol. Obviously, the freezing point of pure water is 32F/0C, and it has no glycol!

The pH of the distilled water showed as lower (more acidic) than 6.5. Yellow, in the pH test on these strips, indicates a pH of 7.0 (neutral). 6.5 shows up as orange. My result was straight magenta, off the scale acidic.

Pure water should be 7.0 pH.

The pH result on the G05 coolant mixed 50/50 with water, though, is right where Zerex says it should be, even though the strips fail badly on pure water. The failure on pure water makes me wonder if the good result on my 50/50 mix is accurate, or more like a stopped clock being correct twice a day.

Like the previous review, the only test that seems fully accurate is the nitrite test.

WIX coolant test strips = Junk, a joke, a waste of money.

I bought mine from a NAPA dealer, EXP 10/13, about $18.00, part number fil-4106 containing WIX test strips.

The reason for this review on Amazon is to let others know about this product.
I tested these test strips on two cars having the same coolant for a min of 4 years and also new container of coolant 50/50. The test strips read everything at -60 and pH also didn't change. The only thing that changed was the nitrite reading.
FYI: I tried it with just plain water and it read 10 to -12 for the freeze point and the pH was 6.5...

I went back to using my $1.24 hydrometer (from Wal-Mart) and the one car read down to -10 and the other car -25. I never had problems using this instrument in the past. I guess this is the way to go.

The reason I tried the test strips was that it was suppose to be very accurate.... Yeah right! At $20 a hit per test strip bottle. I wasn't going to buy another to test that bottle of test strips.
Hopefully this will others.

Too close to the expiration date. I was disapointed to only have 3 month of use left before this new product expired.
