As other reviews have indicated, advertising these as "slow-sinking" may lead to some false expectations. My goldfish has been dining on a mix of these, flakes, and the occasional fresh veggie bit since she came home from the pet store, and seems to get pretty excited about these. I'd say she finds them more exciting than flakes, but still less exciting than fresh peas. She doesn't always notice them before they sink, but seems to like to nose around in the gravel a lot during the day for missed bits of food, so I think they all get eaten sooner or later as long as I don't overfeed. I personally prefer them to the flakes because they don't crumble apart in my fingers like those do, so they aren't as messy.

My fish love this food but the ryukin bloats a little after he eats this. I've just come to accept that he needs some "upside down" time after he eats. Some shelled green peas correct the problem, otherwise both of my fish (and pleco) love these pellets.

These do sink pretty fast. But for me that is just what I need. My fish pond is part of a system with a creek and waterfalls. The current is strong so any food that floats gets swept downstream before the fish have a chance to get it. I don't see an issue with it sinking fast. The fish seem perfectly happy scrounging around the pebbles and rocks to get at the fallen bits. In fact, it's probably better for them when they have to hunt and peck for their food since this prevents them from eating too fast.

These are called "slow sinking" granules. If you think rocks float, then perhaps this statement works for you. I don't think it really matters (the fish will eat food from the bottom), but if you're going to advertise that (and ONLY that) on the front of your product, you should probably make sure it's true.

To clarify, these granules do NOT sink slowly. They drop to the bottom immediately.

The granules are smaller than I expected. They are tiny spheres, slightly larger than a mustard seed (perhaps the same size).

The 5.8oz. container seems to be the best size (it's not so tiny as to seem a waste of time, but not so large as to become comical).

Bought these as one my son's fantail corpulent goldfish would often become VERY bouyant. It had a hard time getting down off the surface, let alone hanging out with the other fish. Sometimes it floated belly up when it became too tired of fighting the float. I read a few sources that said these round-bodied fish can be much more sensitive to taking in any air at all when they eat flakes off the surface. Bought these and the problem was gone, not to return. Now Goldemort can pick at the gravel and run with his more slender compatriots.

My goldfish prefer these little pellets to flakes or anything else. The food floats for about 1 minute and then slowly sinks. Was shipped fast and was cheaper than buying locally.

I have 5 feeder Goldfish that have increased in size from about 1" each to about 2 1/2" in just a few months! They absolutely love these granules and the tank stays wayyyyy cleaner than flakes. Try them, your Goldfish will thank you.

ONLY AT THIS FOR THREE YEARS. FOUND OUT THAT FLAKE FOOD THAT FLOATS NOT SO GOOD. SUCKING ALOT OF AIR PUTS PRESSURE ON THERE SWIM BLADDER. GREEN PEAS THAKEN OUT THE SHELLS ARE GREAT FOR THAT PROBLEM. AQUEON GRANULES ARE THE BEST. STARTED WITH 20 FEEDER GOLDFISH FOR $3.00 , NOW STILL HAVE 19 FROM MY FIRST POND AND ON THIS FOOD RANGE FROM 4 INCHES TO 9 INCHES IN THE THREE YEARS. FEEDERS WERE ABOUT 1 INCH EACH AT START. THEY LOOK GREAT ! ALSO ALL OF THEM SEEM TO LOVE THE GRANULES. ON MY SECOND POND FOR INDOORS. DOES NOT CLOUD THE WATER AND I FIND THERE'S LESS WASTE!!!
