I have been wanting this set for a very long time, but was hesitant because I had many watercolor paints already. Surprisingly, I saw these at Office Depot, and they were $16.00. I originally wanted the 24 color set, but they were too expensive at OD ($31.00! Order online if you want the 24 color set). The pencils are very basic and have shiny wood. The colors stay the same while applying on paper, No guessing games, it's exactly the same color. When you apply water, it becomes brighter, and more beautiful. Another great thing about these pencils is that if an accident happens, the color will fade off of your clothes just by taking a wet cloth and rubbing it.

Ways to use these pencils:
Leave the pencil dry and color
Dip the pencil in water and color
Color and then apply water over what you did (In my opinion, the best method).
Use a brush and water the paper first, then color over the wet spots.

These pencils are much easier to use than regular watercolor paint, but both of them are excellent.

I wish I could give them 10 stars!

These are so great! I bought my daughter a bigger set for her birthday. She loves them so much and uses them almost daily. I bought these to take along nature journalling- smaller set/easier to carry. I love this set because you can color with different colors and actually mix the colors to get exactly the color you want.

These pencils are awesome, but I just didn't buy a set that was large enough. The color range for a dozen pencils is not broad enough. Therefore, I wish their were various sets of 12 colors so that I could tack on to my set without having to repeat some colors. They are so amazing, they have made me an artist. I honestly can do amazing things with these. I haven't used any other similar product so I can't compare its competitors. But they work as advertised. They give me a level of detail I cannot get with other watercolors. I can't wait to really dig in and learn to use them to their full potential. But in the future I believe that will mean combining them with regular watercolors.

I've had another brand where the lead nearly dissolves when wet. These tend to leave a sense of the pencil stroke, no matter how much moisture I apply. That can be nice in some cases but I'd like the capability of totally rubbing out the pencil feel when needed. Maybe I got a firm batch or need better technique but these aren't doing what I've accomplished in the past with other brands.

I had never used watercolor pencils before purchasing these. I bought them on recommendation from a few Bible Journaling blogs that I follow. After using them in my own Bible Journaling, I am hooked! They are a nice upgrade for adults from Crayola colored pencils. I am not an artist by any means, but I like using them in doodling and journaling. The case that they come in is very handy, too. The only thing that I wish is that I had purchased the larger set with more colors!
