Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Play Big IN82 is the first InFocus Full-HD 1080p DLP(R) digital home cinema projector. The IN82 utilizes the DarkChip3 DLP(R) chipset by Texas Instruments(TM), technology which is unsurpassed in its ability to deliver deep black levels, pure whites, and subtle grayscale details. Also, the native 4000:1 contrast can be boosted to a maximum 12000:1 by activating the onboard iris.

Brightness & Video Performance
The IN82 is bright enough to deliver film-standard, D6500K color accuracy in nearly any theater, even with ambient light or daytime viewing. Producing video optimized brightness up to 1500 Max ANSI lumens this projector is spectacular and offers the flexibility to reduce brightness to improve black level performance in a dedicated home theater without dimming the picture.

Connectivity
The Play Big IN82 is virtually future-proof thanks to onboard HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Color™ support. This new HDMI standard can display up to 1.07 billion colors for a smooth picture without color band artifacts. The IN82 also hosts comprehensive connectivity & I/O, including DVI, and PC input, screen triggers, RS232, and an IR repeater input. (Deep Color requires HDMI 1.3 compatible media player & source material.)

Video Processing & Scaling
True video magic projected by the Play Big IN82 is thanks in-part to Pixelworks™ DNX™ 10-bit video processing. This is the same outstanding processing, de-interlacing, and scaling performance as the award-winning InFocus Play Big IN7x series. The IN82 hosts unrivaled built-in scaling support at this price-point for 2.35:1 aspect ratio, for a true Cinemascope/ widescreen without an external scaler (requires anamorphic lens, available separately).

Video Settings
InFocus Color Gamut Calibrator and ISF Day & Night presets allow for worry-free optimized performance at all times. Installers can "lock in" these ideal calibration settings for clients—an excellent value-add opportunity.

InFocus IN82 features:
  • 4000:1 native contrast, 12,000:1 (using iris)
  • 1920x1080 (1080p, 16:9)
  • 1500 max ANSI lumens (1200 lm Eco mMode)
  • 2 year projector, 90 days accessory, 6 month lamp limited warranty

4.0 out of 5 stars X10=great value., August 14, 2009

Purchased this from TigerDirect in mid July. Shipping was fast and projector arrived in great shape.
Coming from a 720p projector I expected an improvement. I got what I expected and more!
Great picture from this projector. Can't complain about black levels because it's pretty good.
Easy to adjust for more or less black level with the iris. I have this mounted 18 feet from the screen and have a nice big 120 inch diagonal picture with great resolution, nice and bright.
Face it, at this price point you will have to look very hard to find something anywhere near this good.
Mine came with the DVI to HDMI adapter and a 6 ft. HDMI cable. Bonus!
I'm sending a signal from and Oppo Blu-ray player, an A35 HD-DVD player, a PS3 and a Wii. Works great with my A/V equipment.
Blu-Ray and HD-DVD look outstanding!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best values today!, August 6, 2009
By Gos2Slo "Chris" (Cotati, CA) - See all my reviews
I'm frnakly kinda shocked there aren't any reviews for this PJ, but after weeks of research I decided to purchase one, largely based on reviews over at projector reviews dot com. 1080p, outstanding brightness for its class, and a picture as good as projectors 2-3 times the price, it's a winner. There are drawbacks like the mediocre blacks, and the goofy proprietary plug (with included adapter) and the crazy offset, but these are things I was willing to overlook. Infocus PJ's tend to be kinda pricey for their specs, but not this one!
