1.0 out of 5 stars It's pretty...and pretty useless, July 15, 2009
By Coogs (Great Mills, MD United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: RSVP International PAIL-BOO Bamboo Compost Pail 3.25-qt. (Baby Product)
I'd venture to guess that anyone giving this product a 5-star review hasn't owned it for very long. While it is beautiful to look at, and bamboo is one of Earth's most renewable natural resources, this pail is a waste of money. It is composed of narrow strips of bamboo glued together, meaning there are plenty of seams just waiting to burst. For my pail, that took about two months of light use. Suddenly, one of the seams separated, and it's extremely difficult to glue back together properly. Also, the plastic holding the charcoal filter against the bottom of the lid broke free after about two or three weeks, so every time I lift the lid, the filter falls out.

In this instance, bamboo is not the better choice. Do yourself a favor and buy stainless steel. What good is a renewable resource if it winds up in the landfill after minimal use?

5.0 out of 5 stars very nice, December 12, 2008
By MJ (Petoskey, MI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: RSVP International PAIL-BOO Bamboo Compost Pail 3.25-qt. (Baby Product)
This pail is very attractive. It blends right in on my counters and I have actually had several people ask me what it is for! The plastic insert is dishwasher-safe, which is a plus and it holds enough scraps for our family of three that we only need to take it out twice a week. Great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greens the Kitchen!, December 24, 2008
This review is from: RSVP International PAIL-BOO Bamboo Compost Pail 3.25-qt. (Baby Product)
Since ordering our compost pail, my husband & I find it to be nearly a game of how much we can recycle into our compost. Initially doubtful, my husband was afraid of the smell that a counterop keeper would entail. But this pail's aesthetics are very pleasing & the charcoal filter keeps the odors from permeating the air in our kitchen keeping the kitchen fresh. The container is large enough that we can go a few days w/o emptying it into our outdoor compost bin. & It makes us feel really good about what we're doing for the environment in lieu of throwing all our waste into the garbage to take up space in a landfill.
