The AgaMatrix Wavesense glucose meter is the most accurate glucose meter on the market (almost twice as accurate as most other meter) and works great. These Lancets are made to be used with the meter. They are 33 Gauge and hence thinner than most other Lancets, so they should be less painful to use. The problem is that the Lancing device that comes with the Wavesense glucose meter is poorly made and cannot reproducibly lance your finger to the same depth: moreover the depth setting doesn't work most of the time. This means you end up having to lance much more deeply than necessary to avoid having to lance repeatedly when the lancing depth is too shallow.

I switched to the Accucheck Multiclix lancing device : it is more expensive but as advertised less painful even though it uses a 30Gauge needle, since its lancing depth is predictable and it uses a cam mechanism to not just lance but also withdraw the needle smoothly. It works great with my Wavesense meter and even fits in the wavesense case.

Bottom Line:
I have used lancets from all the major manufacturers, and the WaveSense Lancets, 33 Gauge, 100 Count Box is BY FAR the least painful lancet. I most certainly would buy the WaveSense Ultra-thin Lancets again, recommend it to friends, recommend it to family, and buy it as a gift for someone I care about.

Pros:
* Least painful lancet, due to being truly THE thinnest lancet available (33 gauge). Most other manufacturer's lancets are 25 gauge (OUCH!), and a few are 30 gauge (ouch!) like the BD Ultra-Fine II 30 Gauge Lancets. One could buy 33 gauge lancets from other manufacturers; yet, why pay more when the WaveSense Ultra-thin Lancets are a very high quality product?
* Compatible with most lancing devices. These lancets are compatible with lancing devices from most major manufactures whose lancing device does not use some kind of cartridge.

With 100% certainty, I can vouch the WaveSense Ultra-thin Lancets are compatible with:
Bayer Microlet 2 Adjustable Lancing Device (best lancing device by far)
Freestyle Lancing Device

I am using these in place of the Accu-Chek barrel lancets I have used for years. The barrel lancets seem less sharp than in the past, and so are a bit painful. These work well! I also like the fact I can stick the cap back on the lancet before disposal. I don't always have access to a "sharps" disposal receptacle, and by being able to cap these, I reduce hazards for others.

In my experience these simply don't work as well as other 33 gauge lancets that are available. There seems to be more penetration resistance with these than with other products.

Husband needs these in large quantity, and this is the only brand comparable to the ones he normally uses that went up very high in price. These have gone up too (several times), or I'd consider a better rating. As they are though, they work just like their brand counterparts.

I use the cheaper of the Target monitors and these lancets work perfectly in the lancing device. I prefer them to the kind with the round piece that you screw off because you easily put the cap back on and the base is shorter and fits better in the lancing device. I've noticed that sometimes the needle is a little crooked, but it hasn't made a difference. I bought two boxes of these and am about to order more.
