I bought two of these planters at the same time I purchased the Vision Medium bird cage M01. These planters are pretty big, about the size of a giant finch nest, they are 6 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide and stick out away from the cage by 6 1/2 inches. I set mine up with colorful silk flowers just to add some fun to the cage, but my finches are unable to sit on the perches because they are too wide and slippery. I've watched them several times fall right off, so I'm going to try covering them with either sandpaper or bird perch covers to see if it helps. The idea is neat but I think they should offer one that is for smaller birds, with smaller planter and perch better suited for finches and canaries. I'm not even sure a parakeet can stay on these perches. The perch itself is only 4 inches long once its installed on the cage wire, so bigger birds who have bigger feet to grab onto the perches won't even have a very big perch. Like I said, I like the idea but feel some changes could be made if they're going to show a canary on their packaging! If I knew what I now know, I would not have purchased them for finches.

First of all, I must say this planter is supposed to hang on the OUTSIDE of the cage. I don't think that's made clear in the online description. Also, it is much bigger than I imagined.

My disappointments were brief, however. As a pet and plant lover (and I bet most of you are!), I am in love with this item, now. It brings their worlds together.

I'm not sure if my parakeet appreciates it, but I love it. I imagine having some nature close to him benefits him somehow--it benefits us, right?

Please see the picture I uploaded. The planter is heavy duty plastic and terracotta colored. It hangs on the outside of the cage, with a short, green perch on his side of the cage. The bottom of the planter has a removable piece that acts as a platform when you're putting in soil and the plant, or if you decide to use it as a regular planter somewhere else in the home. Turn it upside down, and it becomes the drip tray that catches overflow of water, like most good planters have. The attachment is well designed to fit nearly any cage with HORIZONTAL bars. I'm not sure if it will work with lateral bars because the perch part that sticks through the bars is about and inch wide. This helps to secure it.

You could hang it on the inside of the cage, but you need a big cage for that, as it is pretty large. Also, be very careful what you plant in it, as the bird might be poised by some plants. I put a Swedish Ivy in mine--I don't know if its toxic to Mikey, so I'm not taking any chances. I will keep it trimmed so it doesn't extend inside the cage.

Its the pet bird accessory you never thought of! Because of that, it adds much interest to the cage. People will comment on it, believe me.

This is an ingenious product from a terrific line from Hagen. It's not obvious from the photo on the box, but the planter attaches via a perch jutting out into the cage. Just push between the bars, and twist into place. Once there, a bird can perch, and hop over for a treat. The planter is a nice terra cotta color, which perfectly matched the original line of Vision cages it was designed for. It is larger than you would guess, and has good drainage. I planted wheat grass, and my zebra finches liked it. I would recommended buying two, and having one on either side.

I bought two of these because I love indoor plants and I love giving my birds fresh foods so I thought why not provide them with some live plants they could munch on through the bars but not get messy. Great concept but no where on their description of item could I find how they hang so I took a chance. Well the product only works on cages with horizontal bars!!! I have 4 cages and all of them have vertical bars. This product will work on Vision Products but not on most other cages. Unfortunately I couldn't find any other way to secure it to my cage.

This is a cool concept. It looks good and is a fuss-free fresh food source too. I'm planning on planting wheat grass since its easy to maintain and contains lots of goodness for my bird to nibble on. It sits on the outside of the cage but the water catcher also flips over allowing it to be a free standing pot. I gave it 4 stars since the perch is slippery. Other than that it's very well made.
