If you sew or machine embroider, you need some Fray Check in your sewing room. It's kind of a liquid plastic that goes on and dries clear that keeps whatever fabric or thread you apply it to from unraveling or fraying. I've been using it for many, many years and I consider it as important as good thread or the right size needle.

It's called a seam sealant because it was designed to keep seam allowances from raveling and it works brilliantly for this purpose. You simply apply a thin line of Fray Check along the raw edge of your seam allowance, wait for it to dry, and then the edge will be sealed enough to keep from raveling - even after heavy wear and repeated machine washing. Not only does it dry clear, but leaves the fabric only slightly stiffer after application.

It's excellent for use when hemming clothing such as mens dress slacks. Simply pink the edges of the slacks or garment, fold the hem up and press into place, apply a very thin line of Fray Check along the pinked edge and then, after it dries, hem as usual with an invisible hem. You'll end up with a hem that lies flat and isn't so thick that it telegraphs through to the outside of the pants.

I also like to coat the ends of cords or shoe strings that have lost their plastic aglets. It keeps the cording from unraveling.

My favorite use for Fray Check these days is to seal the thread in my machine embroidery projects so that the thread never unravels. I think it works especially well with polyester embroidery thread, but it produces acceptable results with rayon thread also. Simply complete your machine embroidery design, clip all the loose threads, then apply a thin line of Fray Check down the center of each line of stitching.

I'm a doll-costumer and I work with a lot of fine fabrics that fray. Fray Check keeps what I'm working on from unraveling before it's sewn. But it does need to be tested on a scrap of the fabric your working with so you'll know if it stains or dries clear. More often than not, it dries clear. Fray Check for me is as necessary as pins.

Got this to use on the ends of yarn so they would not fray after the product is finished. Saw it on a tutorial I was watching so I decided to try it myself and it works great. Recommend it highly for yarn to keep it from fraying.

Great Stuff - I use it to affix the ends of my knitting yarn to make sure they don't unravel. Packaging is much better than the old style, with a very pointy tip that allows you to place the glue precisely.

I use this with almost every sewing project and on most craft projects that involve fabric. Any fabric ribbon that gets trimmed needs a little spot of Fray Check, on both ends of the cut; the trimmed section and the end left on the spool. The hold lasts through plenty of wear and many washes. Extremely useful product!

I bought Fray Check cause I was having issues with a Survivor Buff that I've had to keep ordering. So I thought I'd give it a try to fix the problem. At first I was happy, but the edges became too stiff as well as after a couple of days it stained them, now my buff is ruined and I'm out another few dollars to replace it again!!

Used to "hem" a chiffon layer on a bridesmaids dress so the ends wouldn't fray. Saved me $90 in alterations and you couldn't even tell so I'd say this was a good purchase :)
