So I bought the 4-Colored .77mm Fine point BIC pen and the Zebra B4SA1. I bought both because I read on Amazon (based on customer comments) that both pens worked wonderfully. As a science major and long-time old school note taker (non-typist), professors put so much info in their lectures that when I only use one color my eyes can miss crucial info, especially when professors zoom through the lectures so fast that my notes look so messy!

I highly recommend this pen because compared to the BIC the Zebra has EVERYTHING you need when you need/want to take organized notes.

[GRIP COMFORT]

Zebra: When I first looked at the picture, I thought I would have a difficult time writing with the pen width being fatter than the BIC (since it also comes with a mechanical pencil). NOT AT ALL! This pen is plastic made but the gripping area has a gray cushion that helps writing feel super comfortable for your wrist. I have sweaty palms so the cushion totally sold me! The type of ball-point tip is so smooth that you don't have to grip so hard unto the pen when writing.

BIC: The BIC has no cushion on the grip and the whole pen is plastic orange. It's nice but with sweaty palms my hand slips when I write, so I have to grip harder. =(

This writes, feels and sounds so much better than other multifunction pens. Regardless of the situation, this thing has written well- even on the cheaper paper that isn't as thick and is kind of slippery that many of my other pens have trouble writing on.

The feeling is great. When you change colors, the "click" feels more solid and doesn't seem like it will break for a very long time.

Unlike much cheaper ones, I don't feel like I have to muffle the "click" when I change colors. It's still noticeable, but not annoying.

The last great thing is you can buy replacement cartridges! I'm still trying to find a more inexpensive place in the US to buy replacements. They are "SK-0.7mm".

Zebra took the cake with this one! I'm a nurse and I need to have access to a pencil, and multi-colors for charting, notes, changes, etc. This pen rocks. I do however carry a separate eraser cause it's just so tiny, but overall in this field of work this thing is a godsend. (no I don't work for Zebra, I'm a night nurse and need a awesome sauce pen for work) I went so far as to buy this for a bunch of my coworkers! Super Happy with it. Hope this helps!

I had a Zebra multi-pen like this except it was all black and slightly more expensive. I bought this one thinking I was being economical. I'm a nurse and work in a hospital which still has all paper charting. The previous pen I had lasted 2 months of heavy use, 3 months of light use, and 1 month of heavy use again. This pen didn't even last 3 weeks of heavy use before the black dried up on me. 2 stars because it left me "high and dry" without any backup (I was expecting it to last much longer)

This pen is super convenient for if you want to simply your life and only want to carry a couple things in your pencil pouch. I found this very nice to use as a high school and college student because I could switch between pencil and any color pen I wanted. The ink on the pens run out quickly so I liked to save it for special projects that mean a lot to me.

The ink of the pens are gel so they don't leak. It comes out very smooth and doesn't leave extra marks when you write fast like liquid pens. I also like how it is refillable so you don't have to waste resources and buy a whole new pen with a plastic case just for more ink. The pencil potion is used by pushing down the clip of the pen. I don't use the eraser on top because I'm afraid it will get too short and I won't be able to refill the lead but there is a cap to protect the eraser form falling out or getting dirty which is nice.

I find it useful to use on tests where I need to underline passages with different colors and bubble in the answers in pencil. It really speeds up my test taking time so I can answer more questions and clearly find differences in the passages.

The grip is comfortable and firm and the clear design is very aesthetically pleasing. I never had any problems with switching in between colors. The clip part is nice because I usually break that portion of my lead pencils but since this one has a spring to actually let you clip the pen on to something, it hasn't broken off in 4 years and can extend farther than most pens/pencils.

I've tried lots of multi-color pens; this one is the best by far. I'm a doctor and have always used 4-color pens for notes and flashcards for the never-ending exams I have to take. The combination of a comfortable grip, leak-free reliability, and a muted professional color scheme makes this one the winner. The clip is spring-loaded and attaches perfectly to my white coat pocket. The pencil and eraser are excellent too. Every function of this pen is perfectly implemented. And, it's affordable enough so I don't get (too) upset when one of these mysteriously disappears, which is a major issue with nice pens...
