Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description The Iomega DVR Expander Drive lets you enjoy more movies and television by adding an additional 500 GB of storage to your Scientific Atlanta Explorer digital video recorder (DVR). Now you don't have to worry about erasing shows to make room for new ones, just leave everything on the drive and watch them all whenever you want.

With 500 GB of storage, you can record more with your DVR. View larger.
Seamless Setup and Blends in with Your Decor
The DVR Expander Drive has been tested to work seamlessly with the Scientific Atlanta Explorer eSATA enabled digital video recorder. Just plug it in and the DVR will take over; recording location is all managed automatically by the DVR. Since the drive uses the fast eSATA connection for data transfer, recording will work without any problems or hiccups.

Thanks to a stylish metal look, the drive complements your home theater, and doesn't have any distracting bright lights. The drive can be placed either horizontally, or vertically on the included stand. Because there is no fan, the drive stays quiet while in use, so the quiet tense moments of your program stay that way.

Extra Storage Capacity Lets You Watch More Instead of worrying about which movies to delete or keep, you can now simply leave it on the hard drive until you have time to watch it. With 500 GB of additional storage, you can record and store up to 300 hours of standard-definition TV or 60 hours of high-definition TV.

The Iomega DVR Expander Drive measures 4.75 x 1.22 x 7.82 inches (WxHxD), and weighs 1.95 pounds.

Iomega eSATA 500GB DVR Expander Drive - 34172

Iomega does it again with another simple storage device that adds storage capacity to my Tivo Series 3 HD DVR. It's simple I plugged it in rebooted and presto it worked!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple to set up. Works perfrectly with SA 8300 HD DVR, March 5, 2009
Connects quickly. Required one reboot to recognize and format the drive and then another to ensure that it was used for recording. Quadruples the capacity of the standard Scientific Atlanta 8300HD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does it do the job? Yes. However..., September 28, 2008
Does this DVR Expander do the job? An emphatic YES it does. During the Olympics in Beijing, I kept running out of disk space on my Time Warner DVR. I lost out on recording a lot of my favorite programs because of no room in the Inn.
However, the drive is a little noisy. Maybe it's the drive. Maybe it's the fan. Don't know. It's annoying, but you can't hear it when viewing/listening to the TV. Also, a little more technical information about the drive in the instructions from Iomega and how it functions would've been appreciated.
Lastly, I think that the drive that I rec'd (very fast delivery, by the way) may have been returned by someone else. The plastic stand and the power cord were not in their plastic bags. The empty bags and the items were lying separately in the box. I was a little aprehensive about that, but like I said, everything worked perfectly. My DVR space went from 99% full to 23% full immediately upon connecting up. Thank you so much.
