I am 71 and have suffered from skipped heart beats and high anxiety for over 50 years with no help from MD's,,,started taking a combination of Taurine and Theanine about a month ago and for the first time I am 90% better,,, Praise the LORD,,,also stopped Xanax which I have been taking for years on a as needed basis,,,, no xanax for over a month,,,,, unbelievable,,,this has to be the best kept secret in the world. I also take Angstrom Magnesium and have for several years as I have to take quite a bit and this doesn't cause loose stools...I really really hope this post might help someone else as my problem caused me a lot of grief in my life...I want to start a blog for other sufferers but have to figure out how to do it. I am still experimenting with the dosage but have been taking 3 to 4 (500) mgs of taurine and about and about 3 (200) mgs of theanine and apps 400 mgs of magnesium....best of luck

I am NOT A TRAINER just your average human being who has suffered from Restless Leg Syndrom for many years. I have had no alternative (UNTIL NOW) but to take Requip to tame the twitches and get some sleep. I tried this product because I noticed that when I consumed Monster Energy Drinks (especially at night) that the problem was lessened or not a problem. I did some research and concluded that it must be the taurine. I tried capsule form and this product, and not only does it eliminate the RLS problem, it really does increase metabolism, and weight loss is a great added benefit. This manufactures product really works with no side effects, at least in my case.

I am a woman with multiple health problems..Amongst the problems I have is Peripheral Nueropathy..As I am sure many of you who take this product knows..this disease is very painful.I have tried many things to help alleviate the pain,,,from prescription drugs to lots of stuff like ibuprofin and aspirin..Needless to say none of them worked very well..My son was the one who clued me onto this product of Taurine..I was willing to try it..I was so tired of not being able to sleep at night because of being in so much pain..Last night was the first pain free night that I have had in like forever!! I now take 2 of these taurine pills before going to bed,,and a couple of times during the day..Plus I do not worry so much about stuff,,I am alot calmer..So folks if you have problems like I do ,,or you just want to feel better during the day,,try this stuff and I think you will be way happier and healthier than you are now...Good luck everyone!!

Took for cramping issues in my calfs. It definitely helps. The only side effect I've observed is that my eyes are a little more sensitive to light. I looked up some other uses and apparently it's also used for eye health. Now I'm more conscious about wearing sunglasses but I do think it's improved my vision. Colors are brighter and I can see more with my glasses on.

NOW Foods was founded in 1968 and NOW and its products have always had a good reputation in the natural food industry (I managed natural food co-ops and stores in CA in the 70's and early 80's and in the Midwest in the late 80's and early 90's).

The current price (at the time I write this) on this product is more than fair (and the price is even better if one takes advantage of Amazon's subscribe & save offer when it is available for this product).

I decided to try taurine capsules after doing a bit of research in preparation for writing a review for an energy drink that I received a sample of for review purposes. Taurine is an amino acid which is found in many if not most energy drinks and is where the energy drink Red Bull gets its name; the word "taurine" is from "taurus" (as in the astrological sign) which is Latin for ox or bull, and taurine was first isolated from ox bile in 1827. The taurine found in energy drinks and supplements today is not, however, from ox bile (or bull semen, as an urban legend has it), but is produced in laboratories.

What I learned when researching taurine is that contrary to what I expected, taurine, unlike caffeine, is not a central nervous system stimulant, but is instead said to have more of a calming, relaxing, or sedating effect. For example, referring to taurine, professor of pharmacology and anesthesiology at Columbia University Neil L. Harrison says, "Its inclusion in these supplements is a little puzzling, because our research would suggest ... [that] taurine actually would have more of a sedative effect on the brain." (Source: Cornell University Chronicle Online, "Scientists close in on taurine's activity in the brain" 2/13/08.

Bought it for anxiety and irregular heartbeat issues. I noticed my heart stopped racing after only 2 days on this product. Amazing! Taurine has also lifted my depression and anxiety problems have dramatically improved. . . again, after only 2 days. My dosage ranges from 3-4 grams/day. This is one product that truly lives up to the many claims I found online.

I use this in conjuction with gensing for mental clarity and guarana for pep. The combined effect is very nice, though I think I'll try a lower dose tuarine next time. It seems like the 1000mg might be a little TOO relaxing for the work day.
