Measuring just 16 x 91 x 14.25 inches, the compact SCX-4300 is Samsung's smallest mono-laser multi-function unit. There's no need for multiple, separate units taking up precious space. High-Speed Performance
The ability to work efficiently can help set your business apart. With fast USB 2.0 connectivity, the SCX-4300 cranks out 600 x 600 dpi (dots per inch) documents at an incredible rate of 18 ppm (pages per minute) in A4 and 19 ppm in letter. And the copying is just as fast; 18 cpm in A4, 19 cpm in letter.

This model also boasts a monthly duty cycle of 10,000 pages and completes the first print out in less than 11 seconds (from ready mode). The SCX-4300 is versatile, too, with ID Card, Auto Fit, N-up, Clone and Poster copy modes.

ID Copy Feature
Save time and money with the SCX-4300's ID Copy feature, Samsung's exclusive function that allows copying of both sides of an ID card or other small document onto one sheet. It quickly copies driver's licenses, insurance cards, or even pages from a passport. Simply copy the front side, flip over the card, copy the back side, and print. With this hassle-free option, you won't have to worry about alignment problems or struggle to feed the paper back into the printer.

Smart Panel
The SCX-4300 comes equipped with the Smart Panel program to continuously monitor the status of the printer so that you don't need to spend valuable time checking in. The Smart Panel icon appears in the system tray if an error occurs, and then you can double click on the Smart Panel icon to show the menu of possible issues concerning toner level, printer settings, and more.

Overall a great starter multi function laser printer. I needed something that could do the occasional scan and print, and not be too expensive.

+ves
+ price - picked it up in Singapore for S$188 (~US$123) at Comex
+ installation was painless - Snow Leopard recognised the printer, and you could print and scan straight away without inserting the disc
+ high quality scanning - the 300dpi is good for what I need, but can go all the way up to 4800dpi
+ nice colour and not too big, looks good in my place

- starter cartridge is good for only 1,000 pages, and toner cartridges are fully 1/2 the price of the whole printer.

I bought this printer because I am a fan of laser printers and needed one for home (and school) use. It is a nice size and fits neatly on my desk.

However, I'm giving this product 3 stars for the following reasons:
1.) The exit for printed paper is poorly planned. There is a flimsy piece of plastic you can fold out for larger print jobs, but I'm waiting for the day it snaps off.

2.) Paper jam messages pop up frequently... often with no paper actually being jammed anywhere.

3.) The machine is so picky. If you don't have that front door closed just right, it won't print. The same goes for filling up that tray with paper.

4.) I just put in a new toner cartridge, and I had one heck of a time getting the printer to work. First it printed half-black pages. Then nothing printed on the pages at all. After rebooting the printer and computer a few times and pulling the toner in and out of the machine a handful of times too, I FINALLY got it to work.

5.) The toner cartridge is expensive, although I think it is coming down in price. Two months ago, I couldn't find one on the internet for less than $80. Now Amazon has them for $68 (or less at other vendors).

Overall, I don't 100% trust the printer. I would like to get 5 years out of it to get my money's worth, but I don't even know if it will last another year... and a paper jam error filled one at that.

Works great. Very happy with it. My first laser printer after years of inkjets that would either dry out or require color ink when just doing black and white printing.
