MAY's fan base is devoted and vocal. The highest-rated review I've written on Amazon (110+ positives as of today) was a double-barreled blast at the "Best Of" hodgepodge released a few years back. With so much popularity, it's been a mystery why the third season took four years - FOUR YEARS - to be released. Well, it's not really a mystery: Sales have been low. But it finally has been and we're going to be gracious to Sony. Or at least try.

I don't even care anymore about special features. They cost hundreds of thousands to produce and I don't want to give any excuses for further delays. The resolution on this set is back to season one's low standards in order to cram 24 eps onto three discs. Fine. It's better than no episodes at all.

One plus: I'm happy this set has Play All. It should be illegal to not have that function on a DVD set.

To the fans: Sony ponied up for this. Now you have to buy it or we get no more!

I'll just echo what everyone else has already said. Seeing the 'Best-of' Collection come out seemed to pretty much spell the end of the Season boxed sets, without giving the show a chance to get to its best seasons.

Season Three is absolutely Mad About You at its very very best!!

The show's very best episodes are here in Season 3:

Our Fifteen Minutes, Two Tickets to Paradise, Cake Fear and the show's absolute best moment, the hour-long season finale (an 'Its A Wonderful Life-ish') 'Up In Smoke', where Jamie and Paul see what life would have been like if they'd never met.

The stars are at their very best, and the supporting cast is given its best work in the show's run. The quality of Season 3 is so high, that the 'good' work in the remaining seasons pales by comparison.

So, it's good?

That's what I'm saying.

I had completely given up hope for a season three set. Especially when the "best of" collection was released, which was great... but this wonderful series deserves a season-by-season treatment. The only complaint I have is the lack of any "extras" on any of the season sets, but that's a minor gripe. If you want commentary and inside scoop, the four disc "Mad About You Collection" has plenty. I've just pre-ordered season three and if you're a fan of the show and want to see a season four, I suggest you do the same. The main reason for the huge gap between releases was due to poor sales of seasons one and two.

Like the other reviewers, I was worried when they produced a "best-of" set, that they were never going to go back to putting out entire season collections of "Mad About You." What a great show this was in its best seasons. Yes, it got disappointing in the final couple of years with its dependence on big name guest stars and Paul Reiser's insistence on leading Paul and Jamie's relationship towards infidelity and big, serious plot lines (what the hell was he thinking?). But during its prime, this was about as good a sitcom as you'll ever find.

Although the show can be quirky and there are a few episodes (overall) that I don't like, I find myself drawn to this sitcom as much as I am to Seinfeld or Everybody Loves Raymond. The assortment of talented character actors along with Paul & Jamie just make this sitcom hilarious. I have watched many a re-run over the years and am glad they finally released the 3rd season and can only hope they continue on.

If you've never watched the show, find some re-runs on TV before committing to the DVDs or rent some. I find the show appealing because it is about two obsessive compsulsive people and their adventures in life - from dealing with their neighbors to their crazy friends and family. The sitcom did suffer some low points along the way, as most long-running shows do. Still, I think you'll like it if you give it a try.

An avid Netflixer here, I have gone out and bought each and every MAD product released. I love this show, and have really loved seeing these years works again. I am also looking forward to seeing the later years which I largely missed for "life" reasons.

As I recall, in its hayday MAD was often overshadowed by the funny but very overrated Seinfeld show. The more thoughtful and touching MAD work took an undeserved back seat in media frenzy and water cooler chatter. Perhaps because Seinfelds outrageousness was easier to discuss, and MAD touched parts of our hearts that was harder to discuss casually.

Whatever, it is great to see it available. We want more!

I just got my DVDs today, and I can't wait to start watching!

Season 3 picks up on much of the same real-life comedy that made the quirky Buchmans so much fun in Seasons 1 and 2. There are hilarious quibbles - like over the name of a much-beloved restaurant they once ate at in "Escape from New York," - run-ins with exes, a two-part reminiscence about the months prior to Paul and Jamie's wedding, the discovery that Murray's going to be a father, and much more.

Jamie's underachieving sister Lisa, Paul's cousin Ira and their friend Fran also reprise their supporting roles, adding to the mishaps and comedy.

Well, I cannot add anything to the fact that this is a stellar series with a great story arc and cast.

Now all we need is seasons 4 through 7 to be released, and the fact that they've come up off of season 3 is indicative that this will eventually happen.
