I bought this for my son on his second birthday. It was a hit! He loved the remote control and it was easy for him to use. We have tried other remote control cars for him and they seem to zoom so fast it frustrated him, this one moves nice and slow and he can use the two buttons to move forward or reverse very easily. The songs are fun and familiar. The shape sorting part is nice too, and the toy will ask for the shapes and the colors so the learning part of this toy is great too. I paid [...] for this item at Costco in October of 2009. I reccommend this toy and I know your toddler will love it too!

The remote control function of this toy does not work. The remote control option worked the first day and then did not work after that. I returned the first airplane for that reason and repurchased another believing it was that one device with a faulty remote/antenna. The second plane also had a faulty remote control function. It worked the first day and has not worked since. The shape sorter function, however, works each time.

I loved this idea as a christmas gift for my son, because mommy travels on planes for business quite often. When I first put batteries in the remote, the thing heated up so much that the batteries gave me a small burn on my finger. I had to reposition the batteries because the spring in the battery compartment was misaligned. Definitely a safety hazard, but all seems fine now. The plane is cute but feels cheap. The shapes / blocks feel even cheaper. My little one seems more interested in the remote than the plane. Interestingly, he (15 months) and his 2 year old cousin seem a little frightened (unsure) of the plane. My little one seems to be warming up to it, however. I hope this thing lasts longer than I'm currently thinking it will (based on other reviews as well).

When I ordered this, I didn't pay much attention to the remote control aspect about the toy. I was concerned with the learning aspect using the shapes. I was pleasantly surprised that the remote control works very well, moves slowly forward and in reverse, and my 20 month year old loves it. The airplane has a couple of settings that changes the talking that you hear from the airplane. One setting asks for different shapes, and lets you know if you have inserted the correct shape into the airplane. The only drawback is that, at times after inserting the correct shape, it will tell you that it was incorrect and keep asking for the same shape repeatedly. Other than that, it's a great toy, and educational as well. My daughter loves it, it's not a toy that gets tossed aside, she plays with it daily. I am not certain why someone would say that the noises that the airplane makes are annoying. You can turn off the airplane when it's not in use, and the sounds the airplane makes are similar to a real airplane. I suppose if you don't like the sounds of an airplane, then this is not the toy for your household.

I bought this for my 21 month old boy. He loves airplanes, so immediately took to the toy. It was also pretty easy to get him to play with the shapes and insert them when prompted by the airplane. However the shape blocks are a very tight fit. Even I had trouble squeezing them into the proper holes. The blocks are also easy to lose. The airplane's recorded voice (which is pretty obnoxious) requires the child to fit the correct shape into the correct hole in the order it chooses (which seems to be randomized). So if you lose one block, or if the child can't squeeze it in, the airplane will just keep telling him over and over that he did it wrong.

The remote control drive for the airplane is essentially another toy. It works surprisingly well. Our son is learning how to distinguish between forward and backward.

All in all, not a bad value for money, but don't expect too much.

This is a great starter remote control. A few things to think about before buying...The nose of the plane does not open wide enough to get the sorter pieces out easily. Sorter pieces are a bit difficult to get in through their openings.
There is no button to push to turn the plane on. You have to put a sorter piece in or push down the lever inside a sorter opening. My 23 month-old grandson loves that it talks to him and the remote control portion. It does respond wonderfully to sorter pieces being put in. All in all I would probably purchase this again.

I bought this for our two year old for Christmas, now it's late June, she's three years old and she still plays with it. She's not real interested in the blocks but she sure likes to drive it in the kitchen while I'm cooking. Annoying as it is, at least she is still playing with a toy long after it was given to her. She has decorated it with stickers and put some marker "decorations" on it but it still keeps her interested and her friends like it too.

We bought this for a 2 year old and he loved it as a shape sorter as well as a toy for imaginative play. At that point he didn't yet have the motor skills to use the remote control, at least as far as understanding how to push the right buttons to make the plane move in specific directions.

Now he does. But even before he could use the remote this was the shape sorter he liked best and we already had several because we received some as gifts. I do want to note that you might want to start with a more basic sorter, one with larger holes for,the shapes, if your older baby or toddler is just getting into shapes and sizes of objects.

The various pieces for this toy are a bit on the small size. But the 2 year old quickly mastered the challenge and I think it was a good lesson in learning how to make the needed adjustments. Also, the nose of the plane opens and the pieces can easily be dropped inside, something he liked to do.

He was in that phase where toddlers like to experiment with how things fit together and discover what objects can go in and out of various containers. So he had fun doing that. And another learning opportunity as well. Now that he is older the remote control has become appealing and he can control it. As far as having lasting appeal and entertainment, I think this is a good value.
