This remote works awesome. It replaces ANY garage door and is simple to set up and use.

The problem with skylink is their incredibly confusing and frustrating array or remotes and receivers. They have at least 2-3 families of both receivers and remotes that LOOK identical, but NONE of them will work with each other. None of the models of receiver have a easily visible model number to use, so once you've misplaced your box or instructions, you'll never know what you actually have...and you'll most likely end up buying the wrong remote that won't work with it. It also notes in the instructions that up to 15 remotes can be used, but doesn't say ANYWHERE what type/model you must buy. If you buy the wrong remote, they won't let you return it, they will force you to either buy another remote and get one of the other identical (but different and non compatible) receivers to use with the remote you just bought.

BE VERY CAREFUL before you get a remote...its very misleading and very hard to make sure you are buying the right one...

I already had the Skylink wireless keypad, but needed an extra remote for the 3rd car. This was really easy to set up with the existing keypad. My only complaint (very minor) is that you have to push and hold the button for about as second to get a response. It's just different than the rest.

We bought two of these plus the SmartButton and wireless keypad. They all were extremely easy to set-up, and continue to work flawlessly. Beware that there is a half second delay after you press the remote, as the SmartButton CPU decodes the encrypted signal. So don't press twice in succession or your door will start to open and then close again on your second push. The hardest thing for me to handle wasn't the Skylink bits and pieces above, but disabling the receiver on my old garage door opener. Make sure you do disable it or the Bad Guys can get around you new high-security Skylink system by simply scanning for your old 1990s receiver dip switch code. Provided you disable your existing remote receiver circuit, this solution is an amazingly cost effective way of adding modern encryption to your existing gate or garage door.
