My bad. I was thinking this was comparable to Crayola's tempera paint, which IS washable. The paint is great, nice colors, but we got a little on clothing and can't get it out completely. I'd still recommend this paint, just be sure your little one wears a smock.

The box I received was poorly packaged and half destroyed. Many of the paint bottles are dented, dusty and scuffed. Additionally, I received only 8 different colors. In my package, there were 2 peaches, 2 greens, 2 oranges and 2 pink. Missing from the box are red, blue, turquoise and white. Missing two of the primary colors means that I can't even mix the paints I have to get the colors I'm missing.

I read through the other customer reviews before purchasing and this issue wasn't there. Based off the photo and description, I believed that I would be receiving 12 different colors.

I'm frustrated because this is not the quality I've grown to expect from Amazon.

I do craft projects with acrylic paint and these are just the same consistency, only you can quickly wipe off most of the accidents with just water or a damp wash cloth with a little handsoap. So much easier to clean up than his finger-paints, or washable markers and crayons. I got the Melissa and Doug brushes and spill proof paint cups and those are great too. Tip: instead of paper, cut open an old cereal box and tape it down in front of their booster or on the high chair tray. My 22 month old really gobs on the paint and the cardboard doesn't get soggy and tear like paper.

My ten year old daughter received an art easel (one of those with a roll of paper attached, and a white board on the other side) for Christmas from her grandparents. Within a couple of hours, she had gone through the paints that came with it. A trip to the dollar store and buying out the stock of watercolors they had was in order. Those were gone within 2 days. Obviously this painter was going to need a bigger supply. However, looking through the Hobby Lobby's, Wal Marts, and other craft stores, finding tempra paints was not that easy, plus if you could find any at all, they carried maybe one or two colors, 8 to 10 ounces (at even that was hard to find) and they wanted $4 or $5 for what they did have.

Not wanting to get bent at the register, I decided to look on Amazon to see what kind of options there were. Prang to the rescue! 12, 16-ounce bottles, a wide assortment of colors (so that means less mixing the primary's to MAKE the different colors) which was a thrill to my young Grant Wood wanna-be. And for the price? Translated to about $2.50 a bottle, compared to twice that for half as much.

She has used some of the paint, but clearly this is going to last her a while. With the summer soon upon us and nice weather in the Midwest, she is starting to focus more on the pool and other outdoor activities... but as soon as the weather is bad or cold again, I am sure she will be right back at the paints. I will come back and let you know how well the paints last over time, to give an indication of shelf life.

But this is a good buy for your little artist!

Only good for paper, peels off everything else as soon as it dries. If you are looking to paint on anything other than very porous paper do not buy.
This is definitely NOT the same as the stuff we had in school. Purchased to use for a temporary window mural, but it peeled as soon as it started drying. It will stick if you apply hairspray to the glass but is transparent and comes off the instant anything touches it and forget applying a second coat or painting anywhere near finished areas such as outlines or a different color as the dry parts will immediately peel off if you so much as look at them the wrong way.
If your looking for REAL tempera paint for anything other than porous paper this ain't it. The real stuff has been known to stay put for centuries this stuff comes off darn near everything you put it on almost as soon as it dries.

As for overall value with shipping it was almost $50 for the set, a trip to the nearby "Walywurld" and you can get the same paint for maybe $20.

My 1 year old son has really enjoyed these paints. What a great variety of vibrant colors. Perfect for finger painting. He gets the paint all over his hands, arms, face and hair and it washes right off. I will absolutely be purchasing another set when these run out.

Love all the vibrant colors. 2 yr old twins love it. Paint is non-toxic, thick for non spills, thick enough to be a finger paint, and goes a very long way. We 1st went with the crayola washable finger paint and went through that very very quickly. The 12 pack ready to use tempura paint is worth the money and will last them both a very very long time. It's not advertised as washable, but it does wash off skin easily with soap and water and washes off hard surfaces as most washable paints do, but it does stain bright white items (stained a white food to-go container I used as their paint pallets, but I don't care). It's paint, so let the kids paint wearing clothes you don't care about and in an area you don't mind getting messy. I put my twins in the shower and taped up large coloring pages on the walls. Very easy clean.
