I bought this hose bibb to replace a leaking one on the outside of my house. The faucet is very well made. The castings are clean and smooth. The handle operates smoothly and does not require superhuman force to open or close. In my opinion this is the perfect replacement.

Usual installation - teflon tap and screw it home. The next day it is leaking. Something caught at the seat? Open it; let it flush; close it. Still leaks.

Open up the valve stem and find the washer is now in two circular pieces - the outer section is now a separate donut shape.

Replace the washer? No screw head visible - is that riveted?? New one on me. Unrepairable.

I purchased two of these to replace an old leaky hose bibb. The first one worked great for about a month before the knob started to get difficult to turn. It had a rubbery like resistance to it when turning it in either direction. A few days after that, it started dripping from the knob area. I probably used it a total of 10 times before the problems started to appear. I thought I must have purchased a defective one so stupid me, I purchase a second one to replace the month old leaky hose bibb. The second one also started off fine but about a month later, the same exact issue appeared. Its as if the seal inside the bibb is getting sticky or breaking down on the inside. I used the second one about twice a week which would mean about 8 times before the same problems appeared. The hose bibb is located in a shady area of the house and the water pressure at the home is on the lower side but adequate so I'm sure it has nothing to do with the conditions they're used in. The original hose bibb that I replaced with these B and K ones was there for over 10 years.

These are inexpensive and work fine as long as you use them as decorative plugs. If you plan to use them as they were intended, good luck as I doubt they will last very long. My local hardware store had another hose bibb from a company called Arrowhead so I bought one. It cost me $16 but when you compare it side by side with the B and K, you can see just how cheaply the B and K ones are made. The Arrowhead one has been working fine for several months now by the way. I also ordered this hose bibb American Valve M71HD 1/2" Heavy Duty Pattern Brass Hose Bibb MIP, 1/2-Inch because it looked similar to the Arrowhead one and used it to replace another old hose bibb at home. This one has also been working well for several months now and I use it at least once a day.
