We moved into a year old home that was beautiful but for one issue - tile in the kitchen, dining area, bathrooms and laundry room that though beautiful had extremely light grout and though we are neat freaks, light grout and a family with kids and pets is not a happy union.

We had the tile professionally cleaned and sealed but within a few months the grout looked a bit discolored again so we tried everything and still it remained dirty. Reviews on this were great so we gave it a bash.

Applied as directed, let sit as directed, used a soft grout brush and cleaned after the process was complete and wow...we had white grout!! We were impressed!! Now beware and do not make the mistake we did (and this is our error, not the product) you have to be careful it does not splash onto other surfaces. For the most part we caught it but a small amount splashed on the bottom of our nice new fridge and it discolored it - this stuff is strong!! As I said, our error but I hope in writing this others will be careful and look out for those areas it might have splashed onto without you realizing!

The issue for us is yes, you have nice grout, but the integrity of the grout seems somewhat diminished! This stuff seemed to almost dissolve the top layer of grout so though clean, we are left with rough, patchy grout and some holes have appeared where they were not there before so I would not use this anywhere near my bathroom as the last thing I would want are holes in the shower grout! The grout also discolored far quicker after using this!!

We have decided to throw the rest out, re grout in a slightly darker color and seal! Had we not used this, I may not have had to re grout but the holes leave me no option

Cleans, but to what price?

I just moved into my house 2 weeks ago. I moved some appliances and realized the grout needed to be cleaned. I tried MANY different products and concoctions. I finally stumbled upon Zep on Pinterest. If I could give this product 10 stars I would. It's unbelievable! I put on gloves, squirted it on the grout, lightly (seriously) rubbed the Zep into the grout with a soft toothbrush, wiped it (and the grime) away with a wet sponge, waited for the grout to dry completely and voila! My floor looks brand new. Now if I could just find a sealer.

Ok, so I give this product high marks because I found a way for it to work wonders, but not using this product by itself. I'm going to tell you the method I used to clean my kitchen floor on a 12 year old house with original tile that may very well never have been cleaned. This took me three days to complete to my satisfaction. Day one I used this product by itself ( I purchased it from Orchard for around $7) along with a scrub brush a rag and hot water. The brush was too rough and the product didn't really penetrate as well as I hoped, leaving a totally uneven and frankly still dingy look. Day two I got smart after watching some how to videos on Youtube and bought some Oxyclean at Walgreens for about $8 for a large tub. First I took the scooper and poured very little in the joints of the grout (12x12 tiles so I did about three tiles at a time) After that I squeezed very little Zep on top of it and the bubbles started working away. After about 3 minutes I took an old soft bristle toothbrush, scrubbed a bit and watched the grime simply lift off. After loosening the dirt I took a old rag which I had in a tub of hot water and scrubbed the mixture off the joints, then used a microfiber rag to dry and wipe the residue off so it wouldn't redeposit. After I was finished I went over the whole floor with a wet old bath towel then with my carpet cleaner filled with hot water. I did these steps two days in a row to get the desired level of clean and finally sealed the grout using a product from tile lab which I also bought at Orchard. It was cheap and came with a very easy spout so I could easily apply to the grout not making a mess. Now the floors, while not looking brand new mind you look worlds better!

I had been struggling to clean the grout in my kitchen/breakfast area for a while now. Other products require about 15 minutes of just sitting on the grout and tiles and then a whole lot of scrubbing with a brush. This product is amazing--you squirt it on and can either walk away for a 5 minutes or start scrubbing right away--it lifts the dirt right off with very little work on your part. The bigger hassle was getting all the dirt rinsed of the tiles! I will never use another product!

I tried several cleaners before this one and it definitely works best! All you have to do is apply and see instant results. When I get it again I'm going to try to find an applicator squeeze bottle so I can run it right down the grout line. Very little scrubbing required.

This stuff is seriously amazing!!! Worked wonders on my grout and it is back to its original color!! I did put the product in a ketchup/mustard bottle for more accurate application as other reviewers suggested. I tried to be as careful as I could around my stainless appliances and was disappointed to see that both my fridge and dishwasher fell victim to discoloration along with my sink! It looked like little black spots on my previously flawless stainless and one side of my sink looked a hot mess. As excited as I was that my grout looked wonderful I was equally sad that my appliances and sink where ruined. Until....my Grandmother was telling me about a cleaning product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean the bottom of my discolored pots/pans. I tried it and it worked miracles on them. While reading the directions it stated that it also cleaned stainless so I figured it couldn't hurt. I tried it on my sink first to see if I had any success and viola...it took that stuff right off! All my stainless looks new again...thank God! FYI both Zep and Bar keepers friend are cheaper at Home Depot!
