I started taking these almost 3 months ago hoping to eventually get away from anti-depressants. I have not seen any noticaeble change in my mood. I have been sleeping pretty good (also take something for that). Even though I take something for my sleeping, it hasn't always worked in the past. I do seem to sleep better lately, so maybe it is helping in that regard. I cannot compare it to other brands, as I have not used any others.

UPDATE --- 6/22/09
If Amazon allowed rating changes, I would increase mine to 4 stars. Since I thought this St. Johns Wort really wasn't helping me, I quit taking it last week. Big mistake!! While, I still don't think it affected my mood when I took it, I suddenly had trouble sleeping last week. When I laid in bed, I felt very anxious and nervous. I had nothing going on that should have made me so worrisome. After a few days, I finally remembered that this problem started when I quit taking the St. Johns Wort. I started taking it again over the weekend, and my sleep is back to normal. I guess since I hadn't skipped it for too long, it affected me again pretty quickly.

I will definitely continue to take this product. I wish it helped in other aspects of my life, but I am happy that it does help me relax at night and sleep. (I would make it 5 stars if it helped my depression/anxiety during the day. Since it doesn't, I give it 4 stars because of the way it helps my mind when I am trying to sleep.)

The bottle says it may take 6-8 weeks to notice an effect. Like the other reviewer, I felt a noticeable life in my overall mood in 2 weeks. I have also been sleeping better and drinking less wine with dinner. I read that SJ'sW has also been used to decrease alcohol consumption and I am a believer. My anxiety has decreased and I am a happier person all around. I have experienced no side effect other than mild upset stomach which can be avoided if taken with food. I was skeptical before I started taking this, but now I am an avid believer.

I use St John's Wort to battle depression especially during the dark wintertime. But not all St John's Wort is created equal. Some brands totally do nothing. I've found that the Source Naturals brand is a reliable source for quality St John's Wort, and I wouldn't want to be without it. So I really appreciate the Subscribe and Save option. As always, Amazon's price is the best.

I have had mild depression for a long time - but not bad enough for prescription drugs that have lots of side effects. I've tried several and the side effects were just too much. I take 2 Source Naturals St. John's Wort 4 times a day and feel very normal. It doesn't make me happy or loopy - just normal. St John's Wort can be expensive...and this is a great price.

When I switched to this product from using Whole Food's standardized St. John's Wort (same dose), my mood deteriorated. There is always the chance that is due to other factors but for me, I use what seems to be working best. I also don't care for the "tablet" form compared to the "capsule" form was I getting on the whole foods product. I'm switching back and dropping this product from my routine.

I didn't order this to try and alleviate a depression, I ordered it because I couldn't turn my brain off when I went to bed. the least noise in the house gave me a start and got my adrenalin going and then it was an hour before I could doze off again. The St. Jon's Wort has made that a thing of the past, and I think that during the day things that used to drive me crazy don't bother me as much. We having some renovations done and I'm still speaking in my normal voice volume, that's really good. It worked very well for me.
