Prong collars work by simulating the pinch/bite of another dog to your dog's neck, but sometimes that pinch is a bit more than you need for a sensitive pup. The comfort tips are just the thing in that situation.

NOTE: if your dog is leery of the collar when you put it on, or he squeals or whines when corrected by the collar, you may have an overly sensitive drama queen dog...but normally a dog isn't afraid of the collar and it doesn't cause pain. Such behavior actually suggests a different problem than lack of comfort . So, first thing, you should make certain that the collar is fitted properly. There should be only one to two inches of slack to the collar when it is on the dog. Too much slack makes the correction too harsh. I found this out the hard way. Also be sure you do NOT put the collar on over his head! (If you have it the proper size, you can't anyway.) I use a prong collar with a clip; but you can separate the links to put it on the dog as well. And be sure you aren't pulling hard on the leash. If you correct the dog, a gentle tug should be sufficient; in general, the dog corrects himself when he lunges against the collar.

I got these in multiple sizes because it is unclear which goes with what size of prong. The number of caps is appropriate for the mid sized dogs (30-80lbs) that I used them on. I use Herm Sprenger prong collars and have had some issues with skin irritation. I purchased this brand due to lack of other options. They do help minimize the skin irritation due to the metal prong. They worked for 1 of 3 dogs I used them on. For the second dog I had to switch to curogan due to nickel allergy and with the 3rd dog the effectiveness of the prong collar seemed to be too diminished.
They go on easily when you get to correct size. For the most part they stay on the prongs and don't slip off.
I will keep these on hand as another option for skin irritation. I have only tried these on dogs with short fur I think longer fur may get caught on the rubber. In some cases I think the metal slides better through the fur and across the skin then the rubber tipped prongs. The majority of dogs I train I will not use these. If there is irritation I will start them out with the capped prongs then remove them as they get used to the collars.

These are great if you are using a pronged training collar especially if your dog is huge. We have Great Danes so this is SOOO necessary to train! The tips add a more aesthetically pleasing look to the prong collar. It really looks barbaric but if you get a chance close your eyes and have someone slip a prong collar on your one arm and a cinch collar on the other and then pull. You will never go back to the cinch collar again!! This was part of our training in puppy school. These tips are strong and last forever! So worth the money!

When I got these, it came in a huge package (compared to its actual packaging size). No wonder shipping was so much... The product itself arrived on time. The other thing I have with these is that they don't stay in place. They slide a little bit off the prong.

We've been using these for years on the Herm Sprenger collars for our clients. They stay on and rarely come off. Occasionally one will split apart, but that is rare. I recommend these for powerful dogs that will irritate their necks with abandon, and also for delicate-skin dogs, especially yorkies.

This tips work wonderfully to blunt the pinch and to allow the collar to work properly on a long coated dog. They keep the prongs from catching on the dog's ruff. But you HAVE to have the right size, or the tips either won't go onto the prongs because they are too small, or they will fall off because they are too big! If in doubt, call Coaster and ask them what size to use with your particular collar. (I only use Herm-Sprenger collars, so it was easy to check.)

We are not huge fans of the pinch collars for all the time use, but it is the only thing, out of the many we've tried, that allows us to walk her comfortably.
