I bought this syringe to feed Critical Care to my sick Guinea Pig and was extremely disappointed. First off, the nose is so thin that no matter how diluted I would have the food, the pieces would get stuck in the hole and I would have to take out it out of my guinea's mouth and push it out every few seconds. This became incredibly frustrating very fast and when you have a sick cavie, you have to feed them as much as possible every couple hours. Every ml counts and when I would have to push out whatever piece became stuck, it would shoot out so hard that I would lose half of the syringe worth of food. To make matters worse, after my first use, I hand washed it and set both pieces out to air dry. When they finally did, I went to put the second part in and the black, rubber band stuck...so much so that it would no longer work. I ended up throwing the whole thing away. Please don't waste your money. I know it's only around $2-$3 but use that to buy a better syringe.

It's a syringe, it works well. No chemical smell, the plunger isn't loose in the tube nor is it so tight that you aren't able to operate it with one hand while you hold your pet with the other. With the plunger fully down there is still a little bit of liquid left in the tip so if you are administering exact amounts make sure you account for that loss.

I have had this for about a week. Using it to hand feed a parrot. It gets used 2x/day. I HAND WASH and air dry. The numbers and letters have already rubbed off where my index/middle finger grip it.

I'm glad I didn't pay more for these. The markings came off the first time I used them (I have 3) AND they started to STICK terribly after one use. (but then so did the giant 60cc one from the vet BEFORE I even used it) I intended to use these to feed pureed food to a pretty difficult cat who has a sore in her mouth and wasn't eating well enough on her own. They would have been a perfect size for me to handle w/her if they had worked out. I've tried lubricating them w/oil, using thinner formulas and even just for water or kitten milk etc. and no go. I've tried numerous times and they sometimes seem fine while filling them but then will stick and be impossible to push while in the middle of a feeding and/or suddenly and somewhat forcefully release due to your intense pushing. Not exactly what you want while trying to handle an ill cat who's not at all happy about the whole thing or I would imagine any other small animal feeding purpose.

I'm using it to encourage an older, ill cat to take wet food and high-calorie gel. Thus far, he's liking it up off the tip, and it's working very well. If you need a really small opening, this might not be for you.
