The picture may allude to the idea that these are quite large bags. I didn't notice the description stated 8.5 ounces so I was a little surprised how small the bag was, but that's at no fault of the seller. The rocks look great in the tank; the only very slight annoyance was how long it took to clean them before placing them in the tank. It took a good 15 minutes to wash and rinse (repeat about 10 times) before the water was clear enough for my satisfaction. Overall, I will purchase more when needed.

As other reviews have said, this is a tiny bag of gravel. It barely covers the bottom of a 2 gallon fish bowl. The gravel itself is nice. Finer than what usually comes in the pet store bags. It was also dust free. The color hasn't bled into the water and it's easy to clean. Just make sure the size is what you need before ordering a single bag.

For whatever reason, I thought this would be a bigger package. Turns out 1 pound of gravel doesn't cover a lot of tank. Maybe enough for a small betta bowl, or to mix and match with other colors to make for a prettier bowl. I ended up buying another bag at the local pet shop in order to have enough to fill the bowl

This isn't just a small bag of gravel, it's also a very tiny grain of rock. If I were to use this for fish, I'd be concerned about them eating it and dying... I've not had a fish who has done that, but I had an acquaintance who did.

I wasn't buying this to use on fish, however. I bought this to fill the rest of my ceramic pot for the lovely bamboo plant that my husband had sent to me. It did not come with enough gravel to fill the pot. I only bought one package of this gravel, and I would need one more bag to fill it the rest of the way.

The color that I received is not a bright, vibrant red as the picture shows. What I got was a dark pink or you can possibly call it a dull red. If you took a red shirt, stone washed it and let the sun bleach it out a bit... that's the color I have here.

I am fine with this product over all... I just took a star off b/c the color was off. (I'll just hide it below the red gravel that the plant came with.)

make sure you read the amount, of only 8.5oz, hardly enough for a coating on the little 1.5gallon tank
at this price it is almost the same price for the 5 lb bags(80oz) you can get at the pet store

it does seem like a good quality stone on the plus side

The color lasts long! And its simply divine!
BUT, it's much too fine for my taste.
I use this in my aquariums, and find myself having to pick it out of my drains...
trying not to clog any pipes.. they get all over the place during a water-change.
Thats my only ANNOYANCE, other than that... it's doable.

You can get a bag, of the same gravel, from walmart, that is 5 times the size, for the same price. It's a TINY bag of gravel. This product is for the smallest fishbowls, and/or making your own colored gravel assortments. I mixed mine in with the big bag of gravel that I got from walmart and it looks alright. I have a 5 gallon tank, and the gravel from walmart was just nearly enough to cover the bottom, but not enough to hold down the plants. This helped a little, but I'm sorely disappointed in myself for spending money on this.
