If you cut your pvc pipe too long the ball will break at the seams when you try to move the unit. I made one ball with 5' pipe and two other with 2 1/2'. The ball can not take the weight of a 5' pipe. (a 10' diameter) but with the 2 1/2 it makes a very nice fish habitat. I'm happy for the price.

They work well but they do tend to break down over time in the water. The pvc piping will cause the balls to crack and eventually break. I put them in a river and used three bricks to keep them in place. I put the pvc through the bricks and secured with a T. I think by doing this it puts too much stress on a single leg. Eventually that leg will break and the ball will move and follow the river flow. I think a better method of securing would be to come off of the ball with wire onto a cinder block and reduce the leg stress.

WANTED THESE FOR OUR POND TO PROVIDE STRUCTURE WITHOUT SINKING TREES. IF YOU MAKE A "SMALL" ONE 2 FT DIAMETER IT WILL TAKE 3 10FT PIECES OF PVC PIPE EACH. FOR LARGER SIZES, PLAN ACCORDINGLY. GREAT PRODUCT BUT A LITTLE EXPENSIVE FOR 3 PLASTIC,MOLDED BALLS. BE SURE TO GET SOME PIPE COUPLINGS SO YOU CAN USE THE LEFTOVER OR "SHORTS" AND A CAN OF CEMENT. FISH LOVE THEM.

I ordered a pack of the three spheres and bought some pvc at Lowes. I cut all the pvc into 5 foot pieces so it would make a ball about 10 foot in diameter when all put together. When it was all said and done I had around $90 in this project. I haven't had a chance to fish it but I am confident it will produce fish. But I can't say I would do it again. I could have spent $10-15 on concrete and made alot more cover out of some bamboo shafts and still had a great structure that I wouldn't hang up on much with my jigs. Of course the bamboo will eventually rot but by that time, everybody and there dog will catch onto where my structure is located and it would be best to drop more out at a different location by then.

Overall, I like the easy of traveling the bill dance structures to the lake and how easily they assembly once on the water, but for the money you can create so much more structure. I will stick to bamboo next time...

these work great and for that matter a lot of stuff works great. I've used everything from cedar trees to plastic boxes exedra. With these you use 1/2" pvc and glue with a T on one of the shorter shafts to attatch a 3 hole brick to sink it, you can also suspend it in deep water as well. The structure not only helps baitfish survival but also creates ambush points for big fish. I have fished these placed a few days after and consitantly caught more and better fish than without them. if you buy 10' pvc just use a skillsaw to cut several peices at once. I also use Stainless Steel leader cord and floats also from amazon to mark and also relocate if desired. Your hook won't get caught and if you use white pvc don't worry, it will soon collect moss.

Good design. Easy to assemble.

I found some pre-cut 2ft joints of PVC at my big box store. 27 pcs cost me under $30. Not having to cut PVC was priceless. The resulting nearly 5' size is just right for my pond, which is mostly around 6' depth. The store wanted almost 7 bucks for a can of PVC cement, so I used shoe goo. It works just as well. Just a dab is all you need because it doesn't need to be leak proof. Some buyers are complaining about the sockets being weak. Well, they are, but only a little. The balls should be made from a fiberglass reinforced compound, or ABS instead of un reinforced polystyrene. If you know what causes the sockets break, you won't break them. When all the pipes are glued in, the assembly becomes heavy. Do not pick it up by the ends of the pipes! Reach inside and pick it up by the ball or the base of the pipes and it will not break. Of course it weighs almost nothing under water, so it is more than strong enough. It should last a lifetime barring accident. I will definitely buy more of these. They are a little over priced, but anything better will cost way more.

Socket walls are too thin and will crack or break,i glued 3ft pvc in sockets just moving it the weight of the arms caused three of the sockets to break and just fall off I didn't even try to build the rest of the set,I trusted Bill cant believe he put his name on something so flimsy!!

So this is essentially the DIY version of Cedars Bill Dance Porcupine Fish Attractor. I purchased these at the same time as the single/completed attractor so that we could have 4 in the pond for a little more than the cost of 2. We saved some money putting these together ourselves, and didn't run into any problems adding the PVC pipe. I'd recommend buying these over the single, completed Attractor for the value this product brings to the table, but the completed Attractor might be better if you're giving it as a gift for someone that probably won't go through the effort to build these out.

Overall, satisfied with the product. Can't report on the actual benefit yet, as our fish in the stocked pond are still a bit too small to really see any major results from fishing these.
