I don't love it. I haven't even tried it.

I think my cat loves it. She only glares at me for a like a minute before she eats it. And since the switch from her old food, she follows me around the house and watches me while I sleep more. She's either feeling particularly affectionate or particularly murderous. It's a new year and I'm trying to be optimistic.

I did a bunch of research on cat foods, and realized that although wet food was recommended (no grain, more moisture), I was not available to provide my kittens the frequent feedings they would need throughout the day, so I decided that leaving out wellness kitten health dry food and supplementing that with wellness canned food for breakfast and dinner was a good compromise.

Why Wellness in particular? It has more quality muscle meat and less grain than most dry cat foods, it is one of several dry foods that are recommended by cat dieticians (do your own research on the web, you'll see), it's not insanely expensive, and it is widely available, both online and in local pet shops.

This approach has worked well so far. The kittens were used to an exclusive diet of Royal Canin dry food (which is awful stuff) when I took them home, so it took a few weeks of mixing the wellness dry food with Roayal Canin dry food to get them to accept it. Wellness has *much* better ingredients than Royal Canin though, so it was worth the effort. They actually got to the point where now they were sifting through the mixture of both foods to pull out just the Wellness bits, so I knew it was time to stop mixing.

Now I've got them on an all-wellness diet things are going very well. Their poo's are firm (which is not the case for many bengal kittens), they enjoy the food, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that I am giving them something of really good quality.

When we adopted our cat, she had spent 9 months in a cage at the humane society. She was scrawny, cranky, and not happy. We went to an all natural pet store, and the woman suggested this type of food. At that store, we paid nearly $30 for a small bag that lasted maybe a month or two.

But, this food was like a miricle! Our cat perked up, started playing, was curious and happy. Her coat was shining. She was like a new cat.

Something else awesome? Her poop doesn't smell nearly as bad as it did with regular, crap-filled food.

This stuff is amazing. Why only 4 stars, then? The price. This is one of the best prices I've found for this type of cat food, but the brand itself is very expensive. But, our cat is part of our family, it's worth it.

I switched to the healthy weight dry kibble for my cat to help her drop a little weight. After about 3 months of feeding, I noticed some blood in her urine. Just got home from the vet and she has a bladder stone that might require surgery. I was urged to not allow her to eat this food ever again and now we are on special UTI food to hopefully shrink the stone. She always drinks lots of water and so I'm very surprised that this has happened. I'd be very cautious feeding this food to another cat. I think I will just throw away my current, almost full bag that I just bought from Amazon. I would normally donate it, but don't want to subject another cat to the same problem.

I decided to try this food for my two slightly overweight cats. They have generally resisted dry food changes before, so I was pleasantly surprised when they took to the Healthy Weight formula right away and were willing to eat it by itself within a week. Personally I didn't find the pellets' strange gray-ish color to be very appetizing, but I wasn't the one eating them so I guess it doesn't matter!

Something to note here is that while this food may be low-calorie compared to other Wellness formulas, at 450 kcal/cup the caloric content of this food is the same or higher than many similar brands' normal formulas, such as:
-Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul Dry Cat Food for Adult Cat, Chicken Flavor, 18 Pound Bag -- 367 kcal/cup
-AvoDerm Natural Indoor Hairball Care Chicken & Herring Meal Adult Dry Cat Food -- 388 kcal/cup
-Nutro Natural Choice Active Health Indoor Formula Adult Dry Cat Food -- 384 kcal/cup
-Blue Buffalo Longevity Dry Food for Adult Cats, 5.5-Pound Bag -- 379 kcal/cup

I'm not pointing this out to necessarily dissuade people from buying Wellness Healthy Weight - it's still a high-quality product and I was pleased by how well my cats liked it.

I have been a Wellness pet food fan for years, but lately have concerns. Our two cats had been eating this particular formula for a couple of years, it really reduced hairballs. A few months ago I noticed that both were losing weight and always seemed ravenously hungry. Both were on the counters trying to get into our food, something they hadn't done before. With one, you could not turn your head if there was raw meat around, especially hamburger. The other was always licking olive oil from our salad bowls. We increased their food, but this continued. Then suddenly both started throwing up clear liquid. One occasionally, and the other (our barf cat), at least once a day. We brought one to the vet when he got lethargic. Bloodwork showed he might be in early renal failure, and he had high calcium levels, which was puzzling to the vets. He had lost 3 pounds since his last visit less than a year earlier. They put both cats on Science Diet kd. Within days, both perked up and vomiting stopped. Within two weeks they were much more playful, and had stopped raiding the counters.
We brought our cat in for follow-up bloodwork a month later. All his bloodwork was normal and he had gained a little over a pound. She was a bit surprised at his new bloodwork results. I told the vet about my concerns over the food. She suggested I contact the company to see if they would test the food, she said to make sure to mention the calcium.
I did contact Wellness and a very nice lady took my information (I could not give expiration date as it was smudged); but she was honest and said since there had been no similar complaints it was unlikely the company would look into it. ( FYI She did perk up when I mentioned my dog had developed loose stools which he hadn't had before on Wellness).
