Not only did I want to improve my sound quality from my laptop, but I was also getting a minor hiss from my stock card - especially when I had usb devices connected. Now, I can't listen to anything without the card because it just sounds so good! I plug directly into a pair of M-Audio BX8a's so the actual differences in sound really shine.

Regarding complaints about the card `falling out' or being too loose, ALL express cards that I have used are like that. Actually, this stays in my computer better than other express card's I have. The adapter really helps.

I stand by my purchase of the card and would do it again. It sounds good and fixed the buzzy problem I had with my stock sound card.

I really don't get all the negative reviews. I've been satisfied with the card. It's for the bigger ExpressCard slots (size 54). Everything worked fine with vista. I'm hesitant to say that it is worth the MSRP price, but it's a good deal if you can pick one up for less. Unfortunately, you've gotta pay a lot to gain a little in sound quality. That's the way it is with these things. If you have that understanding and still want to improve your sound experience, this is a pretty good option. Actually, I didn't see very many ExpressCard sound cards at all, so it might be one of your only options!

I bought this unit primarily to provide a stereo line-in for my laptop. I've recorded some vinyl using this unit and was pleased with its performance. I believe it is one of the few available notebook express card sound cards available. I liked that it came with its own case, combination headphones and microphone and a plastic insert which caused it to fit nicely in my 54mm express card slot.
