I am editing a previous review that I have to admit was negative about this great soup. The first time I had this I really wasn't impressed but because I wanted more protein in my meal I added a can of clams which I didn't properly drain. It was watery and barely edible. Yesterday I decided that I had the cans yet to use so I opened a can just to get rid of it and after dumping the soup into the sausepan I could see that the consistency was wonderfully creamy with lots of potatoes and enough clams to be able to call it clam chowder. I apologize to anyone who read my first review and chose not to purchase this wonderful soup. I had a serving of this soup for lunch today. I am on a 1200 (plus or minue) calories a day and I have made a commitment to stay this course for a year. So far it has been 201 days and my weight loss of 40 pounds (for a 75 year old woman) is pretty good. This delicious soup will help make the next 164 days easier. Thank you Progresso!

Flavor Name: Chicken and Dumpling Verified Purchase
I love this soup so much, that I used my gift cards to get it. And for those of you on weight watcher's, it's only 1 delicious point. I like to eat it with a grilled cheese sandwich or good tasting crackers. I love the taste and the fact that I don't have to feel guilty when I eat it. Make sure to simmer it on the stove, verses the microwave. I think it taste's better simmered.

Flavor Name: New England Clam Chowder
I almost never review food items on Amazon, but for this one I had to. I've been looking for a delicious, light clam chowder for a long time now.

First, let me just say, I think the gold standard for regular fat/salt clam chowder was Wolfgang Puck's brand. When that brand was sold to Campbell, the chowder stopped being made, much to my chagrin. So I looked at the other brands, trying to find a good substitute. Unfortunately, Campbell's isn't very good at all. Their broth (if you can call it that) has a weird, gloopy texture and an odor (some might call it a funk) that is quite unpleasant. Progresso's regular brand is pretty good, but is absolutely loaded with fat and salt. Also, the broth tends to "break down" (by this I mean separate into watery elements and cream globules) after ten minutes or so in a bowl with crackers. Store brands are even worse, just a giant bowl of salt.

Since none of these were as good as Puck, I figured I might as well look for lighter options. If I'm not going to get the same flavor, I might as well cut the salt and fat, right? Again, Campbell's (both regular and "select harvest" brands) was not great. It was, actually, better than their full fat option, if only because it lacked the funky odor. But it was very bland and had a bad aftertaste. Healthy Choice was OK in terms of texture, but VERY bland in terms of flavor. Clearly, the removal of salt and fat was not compensated for.

Now, in comes Progresso with their light option. Compared to their regular variety, the nutrition info is as follows (with original values in parentheses):

Calories: 200 per can (360 per can)
Total Fat: 5g per can (16g per can)
Sodium: 1380mg per can (1720mg per can)

Sugars are the same, and Protein gets a cut from 10g to 6g.

This is absolutely delicious soup and even if you eat the whole can, you only consume 160 yummy, filling calories. I order this by the case, as I like it year round. It's good to have on hand in case someone has an upset tummy or the flu too. There might not be any left for those causes after I get finished plowing my way through the case, but it is really tasty.

Although it tastes okay if you add seafood and spices to it, it causes very weird symptoms that have cost folks a lot in unnecessary medical bills! Google the soup and spend a little time reading the Facebook page! There are some very strange ingredients in this stuff (ex: artificial color which is apparently a 'proprietary' ingredient, meaning they won't tell you what they use) and it's very high in sodium.

Flavor Name: Zesty Southwestern-Style Vegetable
Chock full of vegetables and VERY zesty! I ended up eating the whole can after shoveling snow and it warmed me through. 60 calories per serving (2 servings per can), 690mg sodium, 4g fiber and 3g protein. Chock full of celery carrots, corn, beans and tomato. I like it more than the Campbell's Select Harvest Light Southwestern-Style Vegetable Soup, 18.6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12), it has much more flavor!

Flavor Name: Creamy Potato with Bacon Cheese Verified Purchase
This is a tasty soup with tiny bits of bacon. I like the way it tastes, especially for being the light version. I have tried the full calorie version, which is richer with more bacon flavor. Overall this is a good soup if you are looking for a lower calorie soup.
