These are great quality 42 gallon contractor bags. If you need to store or move lots of stuff and you don't want to guess at what's inside all those bags when you're done... get these! They are the same quality as the Home Depot "black contractor bags", which are also 3Mil thick (HD also has 4Mil too, but they don't sell any clear heavy duty bags). These clear bags are of course more money since they are clear and I wouldn't use them for general purpose cleanup and trash ...use the cheaper HD black bags for that. These are very translucent (clear) so you can see items very well through the plastic. Great for moving or storing tons of clothes, toys, linens, stuffed animals, rugs...you name it . These could be a real time saver on move day instead of using boxes for things mentioned above. The seller also sells these in 4Mil both clear and black and 55 gallon size too. They also came with twist ties, which wasn't mentioned.

Perhaps your municipal waste rules are like mine: yard waste must be in clear bags. These bags are your solution. I bought some of the other clear "yard waste" bags at Home Despot recently; they were flimsy and small and prone to ripping apart - especially when containing and sticks or other pokey stuff.

Enter the clear contractor bag. They are 3 mil - that means the same thickness as those great black contractor bags we all use for everything else. They won't rip with rose clippings or pruned tree branches. One great feature is they fit perfectly inside the Rubbermaid(R) Round Brute(R) Container, 32 Gallons, Gray. For emptying grass cuttings or leaves from your mower/yard vac, the added support of the trash can makes emptying the mover/vac bag a snap. Give that purchase some thought too.

One nice thing is that these bags are delivered folded individually in a box, rather than on a perforated roll. This makes getting another one easy, as you don't wrestle with tearing one off and figuring out which end opens. For non-trash applications, the transparency of the bags allows you to easily see what's inside. Perfect for moving and all other "dejunkification" applications.

I predict that one day in the distant future we will all look back on the days when these bags were a special order from Amazon and laugh. We will wonder how our fore bearers survived without these bags readily accessible from local sources. We will marvel at the perseverance they demonstrated using either flimsy clear bags or non-transparent black ones.Read more ›

I put about 40 pounds of garbage into the first bag out of the box. The weight was bulky, evenly distributed and filled the whole bag. Soon, the bag split right open along the bottom. This is a much weaker performance than the solid black contractor bags I can buy at any home improvement store.

EDIT:

After leaving scathing and nasty feedback on the seller/manufacturer 's Amazon page about the very poor quality of this product, the company CEO personally e-mailed me and offered to re-ship the product to me. I obliged and, so far, the new box of bags works fine. It is clear that in my original 1-star review, I had a defective product.

If I had received a non-defective box the first time, I probably would have rated it five stars. I am adjusting this review from 1 star to 3 stars because while I do like the non-defective product, it would be better for the product to have more reliable quality-control in the first place.

I'm going to disagree with Kitchen Queen 1 a bit. Yes, these bags are not crystal clear, but I wouldn't describe them as foggy. They are a lot clearer than other bags out there and are clear enough to see what's inside from a distance of 15 feet or so. Thus, they meet recycling requirements of municipalities that require clear plastic bags for recycling pick-ups. Also, keep in mind they are 3 mil. Very thick and very strong. I doubt whether you could get a bag as thick and as strong at this price and be crystal clear.

I use these wonderful heavy duty clear huge bags to store blankets and comforters in as well as use them to protect winter coats by poking a hole in the bottom of the bag, placing a clothes hanger through it, and slide the bag down the length of the coats. I've used them to store patio furniture cushions over the winter. We store paint rollers, pans, brushes in them so they don't get dusty in the garage. We slip them over stacking chairs and miscellaneous items to keep dust and dirt free. I have slit them open and used them to protect carpet in sloppy inclement weather... They're so thick and strong and permit see-thru capabilities. I suppose they would be good for trash - don't know - they seem too valuable for that!

These bags are constructed with thick plastic, but the bottom of the bags does not seal very well. Every bag has pull apart at the bottom seam.

Update Nov 22, 2011: The manufacturer has contacted me regarding this issue (which is a plus for them). Will post an update if this was just a bad batch of bags.

Update Nov 29, 2011: The manufacturer shipped replacement bags as promised, and these bags are top notch - they do not tear at the bottom. It was just a bad batch of bags that I received. Very happy with these bags - they are heavy duty and do not tear.
