I fell from a 17 hand horse coming over a jump and banged my head hard on a wooden coop only weeks after buying my Troxel sport helmet. I was fine and I was so thankful for the protection! Don't let the lightweight materials and Styrofoam-like interior fool you -- value for money this helmet is the BEST.

I am adult rider with a small head and this fits perfectly. I favor this style because I don't like the clunky interior of the dial-fit system and similar mechanisms; I would much prefer to buy a helmet that actually fits. And it's not expensive, which is bonus if you have a run of falls like I did and end up having to replace it multiple times a year (ALWAYS replace your helmet after a fall!)

It's super lightweight, is the right size for any standard helmet cover, and even the visor provides great protection (as I discovered later in the summer when I face planted off the aforementioned horse). It has ample vents for riding in the summer heat. Helmet covers also mean you can switch it out to coordinate with your outfit and tack.

This is a fine helmet for kiddos, but we also have a Troxel Spirit with the "dial fit" -- a knob that you turn to get the helmet to the perfect size (much like a construction helmet) and I feel that the helmet sits better, is safer, and cooler* with the "dial fit".

*cooler because there's air circulation between the hat band and the helmet itself.

These were the helmets of choice at the huge equestrian camp I worked at for years. We had about 100, and they are tough, rugged, and withstand the abuse the kids would subject them to.
Now that I have started my own business teaching lessons, it was an obvious choice for me to buy these. They are ASTM-SEI certified, tough and affordable. I even wear one for my own use. I use them for my Christmas Special, offering a free helmet for the purchase of 5 lessons. I love promoting safety in the equestrian world, and they fit in on both my western and english students.

After searching all over for a riding helmet for my 4 year old daughter we settled on this helmet. My daughter is a twin and very petite even for her age 4 almost 5. The extra small fit her but we did have to use the included pads as well as some from her brothers helmet to get it to fit properly. The chin strap was a little difficult to adjust but once we got it to the right length it has stayed put. My 4 year old son has the small and that fit him well with just a couple pads inside but he has a bigger head than his sister. Any helmet is only helpful if it is worn so we made sure to invest in ones that were comfortable and well made, then let the kids pick out a cool/fun helmet cover. Several rides later and the kids are still loving them.

Head gear is a very important safety measure. My 4 year old daughter rides horses on the trails with us. I was worried that she would get hurt so I ordered this product for her protection. It makes me feel relieved to know that her little head is protected.

This is a very comfortable (and reasonably priced) helmet. I have an unusually long head (or for you geometry fans, my head has high eccentricity). So, if you have a long, narrow head, this will probably fit you well. If your head is more circular, it might not work, though they do enclose some pads that will supposedly help you adjust the fit. I don't know how well those pads work, as I don't need them.

I am new to equestrian sports. The packaging for this helmet mentions the importance of replacing your helmet every few years and of not wearing the helmet if the plastic shell has been discolored, cracked, or warped. Such things can indicate heat/sun damage which may affect the structural integrity of your helmet. Such damage could mean your helmet won't protect you properly in a fall.

I realize now that many of my school's rental helmets looked old and had warped plastic outer shells. I'm really glad I bought my own helmet. It's cleaner, more comfortable, and above all, safer.

I haven't suffered a fall while riding. I hope I never do, but if it happens, I'll try and update my review.

I hope I never need to test this in action, but I've been wearing it for lessons for a couple of months and it's comfortable and feels sturdy. It stays put, is easily adjustable, is true to the size I expected, and it looks...well, it looks like a riding helmet. Excellent value.

A good entry level helmet for our 6-year old. Her head measures 20" and the troxel measuring guide suggested a XS. We (she) were disappointed that the cute kid patterns only come on the helmets that start at size small. We got a white so she can decorate it. Also, we couldn't find an XS that offers the dial to control size. But still, this fits her snuggly and she says it is comfortable.
