Panda Security's Collective Intelligence works as an online and real-time database that stores the majority of signature files, keeping them at a minimum on the endpoint. Every Panda user is a sensor for new malware, sending samples back to the cloud.

With Panda 2008 range of products protection was purely based on the users' PCs installed signature file. With the new Collective Intelligence approach Panda 2009 products also send regular queries to the cloud.

• Web navigation, eMail and Instant Messaging (IM). Panda sends queries to the cloud whenever an executable program is received. Keep in mind that it is not very common to receive executables, dll files, etc via this media.
• On-access scan (processes/libraries loaded in memory). How does it work? Imagine that 40 files are loaded in memory; Panda sends a query to the cloud and confirms them to be good ware. A couple of hours later, there are 42 programs uploaded in memory, from which 40 were already loaded and checked before. Panda will ONLY perform the check for the new 2 programs, since the other 40 have been checked before. A minimum PC and bandwidth consumption is used when sending queries to the cloud.
• On-demand scans. Whether is automatic or on-demand, Panda also sends queries to the cloud.

Panda started out fine. It found 5 viruses, unfortunately it couldn't do anything with them. It then asked me if I wanted to continue or finish, continue I said. Panda went and found those same 5 viruses it couldn't do anything with. Would I like to save this report it asked? You bet, just insert a floppy disk it said. This is Panda Pro 2009 asking for a floppy disk. Well I bet when I re-boot we can do some good. Lost that bet, my computer won't even start now. No problem, I remember reading about their great tech support. This is from the description on this page "Tech Support 24 hours a day 365 days a year Panda Security is a pioneer in offering round-the-clock customer services. Whenever you need it, PandaLabs and the tech support experts will provide a rapid response via email or the Internet. Enjoy the benefits of having a team of experts at your disposal." Well it sounds real good, unfortunately after explaining in great detail what had happened in an email I got nothing, not even an auto-reply. I spent money, wasted a bunch of time and Panda rendered my computer completely useless. It seems to have worked for a lot of people, I wish it had worked for me.

Panda Antivirus Pro is rated Good by many, we have had no problems with this software, updates regularly and does not intrude or bog down computer has kept our computers free of infections and spyware even malware removed with Panda Antivirus was easy to install about ten minutes we have had many different Antivirus programs and this one compares to all the better programs out there on the market today, allows me to work around it while it scans my system, you can even scedule this program to scan when you scedule it for your time not just what the manufacture sets as a time to scan this makes it easy when you don't want any scanning being performed while you are busy or need to leave in a hurry and can not attend your computer while it scans

I am no computer expert, yet I can set up Panda and run a virus scan all by myself! It is simple to use and very efficient. I have never had a problem with Panda and have used it for several years and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable program!
