I collect handcuffs to study and analyze their differences. The Smith and Wesson Model 100 is a solid handcuff. (I believe that they're available for cheaper elsewhere). They are at the cheaper end of the market, so bear that in mind.

My primary concern for these cuffs is the double-locking feature. Smith and Wesson sometimes uses the odd double-locking bar, which is used by sliding the reverse side of a standard cuff key into the face of the handcuff and sliding it. I do not like this feature. It requires too much attention, as opposed to the push-button variety, which is standard on Peerless cuffs, Hiatt-Thompson, or even the ultra-cheap Chicago cuffs. (In fact, Smith and Wesson offer the Model 100a with the push-button double-locking feature, but I believe it's cheaper not to do so. Other S&W models also feature the push-button.)

In short, if you're handcuffing a willing subject, these cuffs will do nicely. If you're nervous or the subject is a cause for concern, you might want to avoid devoting the attention needed to operate the S&W style double-lock feature. (For some reason, ASP also uses this feature).

These cuffs are an excellent buy for the listed price. Much better than most local retail outlets. A great buy!

These are sturdy, and they double lock. Just as described, a good pair of cuffs.

Great quality, extremely strong and the double locking feature is easier than those little holes other models offer. Just a little polishing up and looks like a thousand bucks.

The same as far as my other duty gear without all the letter heads when buying from a Law Enforcement store

I always wanted a set of these and now I have a set! They are very good quality as should be expected from S&W. They sit on the shelf and collect dust now with the rest of my junk but I have a set! I'll probably donate them to the local law enforcement one of these days so they can see some use.

I have used Smith & Wesson Model 100 Handcuffs for nineteen years, and I wouldn't think of using any other brand or model. These cuffs do the job, and they do the job well. Be sure to use the double lock feature!

I bought these handcuffs for an explorer program at a Sheriff's department. They operate smoothly, better than Peerless from what I have heard. The only thing is that the double locking feature requires you to insert the other end of the handcuff key into a slot on the handcuffs, which is not the most convenient thing to do.
