I had a lot of Otitis Externa "fancy name for infection of the outer most part of your ear" when I was training for a triathlon.
Got to know that there are ear dryers; the electric more expensive ones and the simple ones like this. I bought this one as I did not wanna spend a lot on the electric dryer and that was it ever since for ear infection. Squeeze it in your ears a few times after swimming (or showering if that what is causing your problem) and that would take care of the problem all together.
Enjoy.

I bought this based on other Amazon reviews and am completely pleased with the product. It does just what it says, and without any fear of hurting your ear drum or canal. You'll know your ear is dry when the air no longer feels cold. You also receive a pouch for storage. Three cheers again for Amazon reviews!

I chose this over battery powered alternatives, knowing that small electronics often break quickly. After several months, I believe I made a good decision. I'd suffered from swimmers ear-type itching and infection for over a year. This is a simple device but it was designed well and it does what it says. Air comes into it through the back and enters the ear through the front, so it is different from other bulb-type medical devices. The design keeps you from inserting it too far, and allows air a way out. Your hand muscles control the flow (so teach children that gentle is better than powerful squeezing). The info doesn't say how many times to squeeze, but 15-20 times per ear seems to work well. Two doctors told me to also spritz a mixture into my ear after showers/swimming (equal parts white vinegar and rubbing alcohol; plus hydrogen peroxide if fungus is involved). The spritz plus Dryears have ended a major source of discomfort.
In 2015 I bought a new Dryears because the old one stopped working properly (after about two years). The new one seems to have a slightly improved design (better flow of air into the device). I'm still very happy with this product.

My daughter has a serious swimmer's ear problem. Even taking a shower will cause her ear pain, not just swimming. We've tried everything: variety of ear plugs, meds. We had to use prescription antibiotic ear drops most of the time, until we decided to try this device. We've been using it for almost a year now. It really works!!! No more pain, no more meds or ear plugs. We use it religiously after every shower. If we skip it accidentally, her ear ache returns and we have to use prescription ear drops again for few days until she returns to normal. It is easy to use - my daughter loves doing it by herself: you just press it and it blows air inside your ear. I've never written any reviews for any products out there, but feel that I need to tell the people out there about this amazing product. If you or your kids are experiencing ear pain try this device and just like me you will be pleasantly surprised that the solution could be so simple

No need to spend more...this item does the job quickly and easily. The multiple holes mean that it blows air fom several diections, not just right at your eardrum. One caveat though...my dog mistook the first one for one of her chew toys, so be smarter than I was and don't leave it out beside the tub.

After eons of not swimming, I started swimming again recently and suddenly found myself plagued by the water getting into and staying in my ears.

`Went to the pool again two days ago, used this Dryears afterwards and discovered that this really does dry my ears! (I don't know why I'm so surprised, but I just am; I had thought that a doctor's visit might be warranted, since the ears felt clogged and even starting to itch at times.)

Usage tip: other than air-drying the ear canal, according to the user guide, the Dryears "device breaks the surface tension that retains the water in the ear", so I found it helpful to tilt the selected ear/side of the head toward the ground to facilitate the drainage as I squeeze the Dryears -- I just didn't like the idea of increasing the possibility of blowing any water deeper into my ear canal, even though it'll be dried in a few or more squeezes...)

I've also ordered Mack's Ear Band, Tyr Silicone Molded Ear Plugs, and Mack's AquaBlocks Earplugs. I'll provide feedbacks after I've used them, in case someone is interested...

4/29/2014:
After trying out the Mack's band (didn't work well for me), molded plugs (uncomfortable), and AquaBlocks (uncomfortable), I now use a 3" wide band that I had cut off from another swim cap for use as an extension to my swim cap to cover my ears (this provides a good fit for me) during the swim. After the swim, I'd use this Ear Dryer to completely dry the ears. This works for me so far.

It seems to work okay, the principle is fairly simple. On the advice of my ENT I replaced this with a Mack's rechargeable ear dryer, her feeling being that that type may be more affective for my frequent ear infections. But that does not mean that I found this product lacking in any way. I think for general use, especially with children, that this may be a handy little inexpensive gadget during swimming season.
