I've had them all, cheap ($5) nozzles and an expensive ($90) nozzle (Griot's Garage). Given I've had the expensive nozzle for over 10 years now without a hicup lends strength to the adage; 'you get what you pay for'. But who in their right mind would pay $90 for a hose nozzle? Well, I did once but the good news now is that this $10 nozzle is the best I've ever used in this price range and unlike others in this price range, should last virtually forever (because there are no inherent design flaws). Others have raved about the Gilmour nozzle and so I bought one only to find out that it breaks. Turns out it is made from three pieces of brass, two of which are press fit together; the inner core and the part that screws onto the end of the hose. The outer jacket, the part that is supposed to turn to adjust the spray is the third piece. When you torque the outer jacket down to shut off the flow, stress is induced on the press fit joint which eventually fails. The press fit joint is now so loose, that I can't turn the outer jacket to adjust the flow without the core spinning at the joint. That is, the core begins to turn and it leaks at the place where the two pieces are press fit together. Worse yet, I can't turn the jacket to shut off the flow. Only took 4 months of light use to happen.

THIS nozzle is only two metal pieces! The outer jacket, that turns to adjust the spray and shut off the flow, and the inner core which is one piece of machined brass all the way from the part that screws on to the hose to the center tip of the nozzle. Internally there are a couple of replaceable 'O' rings in addition to the requisite washer where the nozzle screws onto the hose end. I only regret that I didn't buy this one long time ago (I used to turn on the water and run around my backyard with no nozzle at all).

Pros:

- This thing is made of a high-quality metal, you can feel that immediately (and it's made in the U.S. by the way)

- It's very easy to adjust with one hand and it enables you to stop the water flow when you don't need it.

- There are two distinct water spray patterns (see the attached video):
(1) powerful water flow (cleans patio very well), and
(2) sprinkler-alike one (good to refresh the trees that don't get much rain here in the desert).

Cons:

- N/A so far

This is a great nozzle. Solid heavy Brass, nice knurled portions for easy turning, no leaks and made in the USA. Very happy with this for watering our garden and flowers.

We purchased about a dozen nozzles over the last five years and have been unhappy with all of them due to leaks, falling off rubber parts..., but we are very happy with this one. I am purchasing a second one for the front of our house.

Over the years I have used a wide range of nozzles and spray heads. The pistol grip nozzles (even the pricey ones) usually fail to deliver and tend to be fragile. This brass nozzle does a great job. It projects a wide range of streams from a narrow "water-rope" stream to a fine mist cloud. I am particularly impressed by the ability of this nozzle to project a stream over great distances, far greater than the other nozzles that I have used. I can literally stand at my front door and reach most of the yard with the stream. And it has a great solid feel in your hand. I am so pleased that I am buying a second one for my back yard.

Bought two to replace a couple of pistol grip style nozzles with selectable heads that crapped out. This is very solidly made. Two brass parts and a couple of easily replaceable o-rings. Should last a very long time. Nice jet spray for washing the car or cleaning driveway.

These nozzles are the only ones I now buy. I became frustrated with the pricey plastic ones in most stores. Tried many brands but after a year or so they all failed to work--mostly spraying water on me instead of where I was aiming. I have used these brass nozzles for years. I really like the shut-off valve on the side. This enables me to shut off the water and move the hose without adjusting spray. I purchased 3 more this season and now have them on all my outside hoses.

I'm a great fan of all things brass and mechanical. True, it's solid, one-pieice brass (no press-fittings), with the second piece that screws on, which you twist to modify the flow rate, making the whole unit. That's nice, but here are the downfalls: 1. there is so much turbulence inside the nozzle it vibrates the hose. That feels nice but it also means lost energy, so you don't have the power behind the jet stream. That is ideal if you are out in the garden but not ideal if you are washing the car or the concrete. Consider your need. It's pretty, and it's solid. The 2nd bug about it is that you have to twist it more than you want in order to get the right water volume. So, to shut it off from full bore open, you have to turn it about 4 or 5 times. That gets "in the way" of quick operation, especially when washing a car. For these types of nozzles, expect a different spray pattern as you twist down the nozzle. This may not be ideal for how you need the water to come out given the change in flow-rate. It will last a lifetime if you take care of it, and replace the O-rings every 2 or 3 years, which you can get anywhere. Made in USA.
