To be honest I did not expect much when received the product. There are a lot of bad reviews about transfer pumps that are much more money than this one. This is all plastic and resembles a hand soap dispenser.
Upon using the pump I was quite impressed. This thing handles thick fluids with ease. I even used it backwards (with a long piece of fuel line attached) to extract transmission fluid all the way up the filler tube and into a jug. I've also used it to pump 80W-90 and lucas oil stabilizer. The top screws onto any quart container and even Lucas product bottles. It works perfect for filling or topping off hard to reach differentials or transfer cases. It is not very fast but it wasn't meant for an oil change even though you could. I found it to be much better than sqeezing a bottle of gear oil until my hands are numb. I'm not sure how it would hold up to fuels but it is cheap enough to replace if it doesn't. I would definitely recommend it.

I did a drain and refill of the fluid in my truck's transmission today. I had bought this last time I ordered from Amazon so I'd be ready. The best way to describe this is it's a POS waste of money.

First off, I put it together, I installed the short tube into the bottom of the pump. Well as soon as I put it in the bottle it fell off into the fluid. I had put it in tight so what the .... anyway, after I fished it out with needlenose pliers and tried again, I got maybe 40 pumps into it, which is less than half a quart, the thing barely pumped anymore.

For the record it was 75W90 gear oil I was pumping with it. This pump may have worked OK with water or some thin oil, but don't use it for gear oil.

After it broke I headed off to the local auto parts store (not a big name chain store) and they had a professional 18 oz suction gun for $19. Holy cow it worked so much easier, I would tell you to save your money and buy a decent tool that won't break the first time you use it.

Oh, and I would guess that it's easily over 100 pumps just to move a quart of fluid, it's really insane. This thing is a pathetic pump, don't waste your money buying this.

Order this if you need a basic fluid transfer pump. The volume with each pump isn't high, but I expected that. No complaints with it so far. I havent tried attaching it to a bottle, as I bought it to transfer liquid from a power steering pump/reservoir to a disposable container and it worked for the job.

I purchased two of these pumps. One was for pumping oil into the front and rear differentials of my Jeep; the other was for pumping transmission fluid into the transfer case. These pumps will get the job done but not very well. The straw provided is not long enough to reach the bottom of a bottle of Valvoline gear oil (1 quart). They only provide one length of straw. You leave about 20% of the oil in the bottom of the bottle. It also takes a very large number of pumps to move one quart of fluid. I lost count at over 200.

The second pump that I used with transmission fluid began leaking on its first use. I threw both pumps away after getting this job done and will buy better ones in the future. The reason I didn't rate them lower is because they were cheap, and I figured they weren't ideal for the job to begin with.

First off, the pump did screw onto what I would call a typical tall and skinny 1 qt. gear oil bottle (like Mobil 1 gear oil comes in). Second, there is no easy, quick, comfortable, cheap way to pump 3 quarts of gear oil into a transmission. That is just a reality.

This pump is cheap, but none of those other things. It take a long while to pump a quart, and if you are under a truck the pumping motion is awkward. My pump broke--jammed up and no longer pumping--after a bit over a quart. I am finishing the job using one of these:

It, too, is slow and awkward...but, it works.

I think the real answer is to build some kind of pressure-pot which is pressurized with a compressor and then pushes the gear oil up and into the tranny. Easy to picture...just something I have not done yet.

I used this to pump gear oil into the transfer case of my SUV.
It worked for two pump actions and them seemed to jam while not pumping any fluid.
I had purchased two of them and switched to the second one. It worked better, allowing me to complete the job.
The pump action on the second one felt like it was going to give out too.
I am surprised that Pennzoil would put their name on this thing.

The pump broke after one quart of heated gear oil. Unfortunately, it's a 2 quart job and I ended up having to gravity feed the lube into the diff with 6 ft of tubing that I had to finish the job. The pump is incredibly cheap and you should not expect it to last more than a single use. I returned mine to Amazon.

Look at the other reviews. Does this seem like an isolated incident? Go find something with some positive reviews.

Throw this little piece of crap in the trash and buy a different one. This little pump had one job, to put manual trans fluid in a transmission. I got more on the ground and on my hands then in the trans. Ended up rigging up multiple rubber hoses through the engine bay with a funnel and filled it that way. This little turd pissed me off and went in the trash within 10 minutes.
