I have the Voltec gfci as well as the Tower brand Shockbuster portable gfci. I use it when I plug my mobile dog grooming van into a customer's electrical outlet. The Tower is rated at 15 amps and the Voltec at 20 amps. Both units are waterproof and both have some kind of light to let the user know that power is being delivered to the unit. The only main difference is that the Tower brand is auto reset and the Voltec has to be manually set after losing and regaining power. The Tower unit does recommend testing the unit after each power outage (either purposefully losing power or not). But that's just probably a CYA disclaimer. I have only been using both units for a short amount of time. If something goes awry in either or both units, I will try to remember and return to give an update.

If you do not have a "GFI" plug on any outlet that you use for outdoor work - get one or insatall a "GFI" plug in that outlet.

The beauty of this plug is that it will stop you from being electrocuted if you are outside & step in water & the wire gets wet..
It will 'close down'.When I was a kid a guy was cliupping his hedges got electrocuted when he stepped in water.

This Tower triple tap has a short 'plug' end, so it can be plugged into a duplex outlet and not block the other outlets. We've been using it in all the rain we have been getting with a new garage that hasn't got a floor yet. We have lights and an exhaust fan on one side of the duplex outlet. On the GFCI we're running a dehumidifier, Simer pump and tools. No problems in two months.

I am using this to protect an extension cord I've run outside to a small shed. The unit is solid. I haven't tested a current leak to see if the GFCI works, but the test button and reset work. So far, so good. Motorcycle battery tender is fed, and I shouldn't get electrocuted if something goes wrong.

Bought this to replace one a pool pump that failed. This one is made of quality parts and was very east to take apart and rewire into the existing pool pump wiring. Put a new mail connector on the female side that I didn't need and turned it into a three way splitter for an extension cord.
