In my travels, I've had a fair amount of harissa. I was excited to order this, but was sadly disappointed. The mix is incredibly salty. While harissa normally does have a fair bit of salt, this was unpalatable. Also, if one follows the instructions on the package, regarding the proportion of oil/water to harissa spice mix, the resultant paste is far too oily and thin (adding less oil, however, results in a grainy mixture). I would not recommend this product.

The flavor is intense, and good. It makes spicing meats and pasta sauces easy! I would purchase it again. The one downfall was the packaging, which is like a ziploc bag.

I ordered 2 bags when I purchased the Harissa. I use it almost daily to give an extra kick to my chicken, burgers, pork, and even fish! It is a great spice mix, and I plan on buying more when I run out!

After tasting homemade Harissa Ketchup at Sandwhich in Chapel Hill, NC, my husband and I decided to try to make our own at home by adding some harissa to Heinz Ketchup. We bought this 4 oz package and were quite pleased with the results. Now we have to try adding it to other things for a little extra heat that has a distinctly difference flavor than most American "hot" foods!

I absolutely love this spice. I read another comment where someone said she might as well buy chili powder. I could not disagree more. This tastes nothing like chili powder. It is spicy and SO yummy. My favorite thing to do is make it into a paste with olive oil and lime juice and rub it on salmon before I cook it on the grill. PERFECT!

I wish I had read the negative reviews before I bought it. I love the flavor of harissa, but this is NOT harissa. As pointed out, it is VERY salty, and the flavor is a mix of things (like for a marinade), not harissa. But the worst part is the false advertising. The product is clearly pictured in a bottle, when in fact is comes in a non-resealable plastic bag -- utterly useless. I had to throw it away. Unfortunate that Amazon does not do a better job of policing its suppliers. I'll certainly never buy from these people again.

I bought the Harissa spice because the Harissa Paste was out-of-stock. I add it to any dish that I want to spice up. I find it to be a warm and satisfying flavor. It's not as spicy as Chipotle or Red Pepper seasoning. It is just enough to make cheesy dishes less bland.

I have to agree with the other negative review, that whatever this is and it isn't terrible, it isn't harissa, so I give it a 4. It comes in a zip lock bag that did not reseal that well-in short, truth in advertising is a 0. Mean=2. I would look elsewhere
