Product Description

Product Description

Eco Teas Yerba Mate: We work in partnership with a family farm in Misiones, Argentina to offer the best yerba mate we've ever tasted. Our master farmers dry the yerba with a unique hot air process to achieve a robust, smoke-free taste. After aging, stems and powder are sifted out and returned to enrich the soil. Our yerba mate is a pure leaf product of exceptional quality. The Eco Teas Mission: Eco Teas is a small company in southern Oregon owned and run by three best friends. our mission is to offer certified organic sustainably-grown, fairly-traded world teas. Through conscious commerce, we work for personal and planetary health. In Argentina, we are helping our yerba mate farmers reclaim their ancestral land and cultivate it using sustainable permaculture techniques. We envision an organic, biodiverse, economically-productive landscape. What is Yerba Mate? Yerba Mate is a holly tree native to the rainforests of South America. The tea-like beverage made from its leaves is called mate. Mate is the national drink of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. People from all walks of life have enjoyed its beneficial properties for centuries. Sipping mate with friends and family is an energizing, healthful daily ritual. Mate stimulation: What do you get when you combine half the caffeine of coffee with a powerful dose of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients? You get an energizing boost known in South America as mateine. Mateine raises your whole metabolism for balanced mental and physical stimulation. I ordered the three pack bundle on August 18, 2009 and loved it. It lasted me a long time and I drink mate almost everyday. Good taste, good sized leaves for the bombilla, organic, overall awesome stuff. However, when I ordered the 3-pack it cost me $18.28 exactly, good deal. The price now wavers around $50. What's the dealeo? I'm flabbergasted. I was looking forward to ordering again but now I'm totally going with a better price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the product, amazed @ amazon pricing, January 28, 2010
We regularly take Yerba mate as our tea and this particular brand is what we consume. It is easily available at our local supermarkets.

I would like to see subscribe and save of amazon become more popular and useful as it allows us to simplify things. But boy, someone at Amazon needs to listen to the customers and understand that the customers are educated.

Many many of your grocery prices are silly when compared with local market prices in US. This product is a perfect example. It sells at normal MSRP for $9.99/lb in Austin TX in WholeFoods or SunHarvest, yet amazon price is $16.67/lb for a bulk pack? In fact this trend is true in many of the departments. Amazon needs to start showing prices that are real rather than try to "show" a big discount. A good mindset to follow would be that of Costco/Sams rather than a shady pawn show.

Fix it, and amazon's subscription business for groceries & household utilities will take off like you wouldn't belove it. I for one would be happy to shift *all* of my reoccurring, non perishable food supply to Amazon.
