At Smokey Robinson's suggestion, a young song-writer called Berry Gordy set up his own record label called Motown, and promptly signed up Smokey as his showcase act. Over 17 years, Smokey (with his group, The Miracles) managed 16 Top 20 Hits and were one of the definitive groups of the Motown sound. All of the best songs are on this collection. It brings back plenty of good memories. I just had the pleasure of seeing Smokey recently, he is a real superstar, many of these same songs were part of the show.
