As a physical therapist for many years, I know how important a good cold pack is! When my husband had his knees replaced last summer, I wanted to have really good ice packs ready and chilled. I searched the internet carefully, and when I found the Torex, I was sold. They surround the entire joint, stay on well, re-freeze quickly. Not only did my husband use them, but I regularly loan them out to other patients now! Why don't they sell these in local medical supply stores?

Update: This was great at first, but I was only able to use it for a few months before the plastic stretched out too much for it to fit around a finger without falling off. This also meant that the gel was spread too thinly to actually provide the benefits of using ice.

This Torex finger ice pack is excellent. I have been struggling to keep ice on my finger, using both standard ice packs and plain old ice. Those options both work, but it is a challenge to keep them on a finger unless just stitting doing nothing and holding the ice in place. This product slides onto the finger easily and stays in place well. It definitely gets very cold and comes with a fabric sleeve to protect the finger from direct contact with the ice pack. The sleeve could be slightly longer, but it is sufficient even on my middle finger as long as I place it just right to make sure it covers my fingertip. Somehow, my fingers next to the one that I am icing have not been frozen by the ice pack, even though there is no barrier between the ice pack and the other fingers (they just don't seem to hit right to freeze).

With this ice pack I have been able to keep my finger iced while still going about my day. Typing with it on is quite awkward, but it is much better than trying to use any standard ice pack.

The finger ice pack stays cold for around 20 - 25 minutes each time as long as it has been in the freezer long enough, which seems to be pretty typical for gel based ice packs. I have been impressed that this one stays cold for over 20 minutes considering how small it is. It does need at least 2 hours back in the freezer before it is ready to use again or it won't stay cold nearly as long. Since I need to ice my finger more than 20 minutes out of every 2 hours, I will be purchasing a couple more of these ice packs so that I can rotate them as needed.

I build houses for a living and I have broken all my fingers and thumbs. Some twice. Tape them up and go back to work, no sense in whining about it. I am tough but sometimes my fingers ache and ache and ache day in and day out no matter what I am doing. In the evenings I rotate these sleeves on my fingers and they take the swelling down and they feel better. Finally some relief. Works great. Bought a total of 5 of these, 2 to stash. You'll be happy you bought these I am sure you will agree. Good price too!

I like the science behind this gel cooling sleeve--stays pliable after a couple hours in the freezer and rolls right up my arm. The problem is the awful odor. I have to put it in a sealed bag or it would stink up my whole freezer. When the item arrived, the box was taped and the gel pack was in a sandwich bag. I don't know if this is their normal packaging or if mine had been previously used.
Another con: they instructed user against putting the item directly onto skin and include a cotton knit sleeve to use at all times. A very cheap sleeve that was unraveling first time out of the box. See photo. I can tell now this won't last long.
So again, the gel gets cold (haven't heated it yet) and stays soft. But I've had to endure the nasty odor.

I used this three times. The next time I went to use it, the gel seemed like it dried out and was spread very thinly and it seemed like it stretched out. Not usable anymore. It was a great product but with only 3 uses before it wouldn't work anymore, I wouldn't buy it again. Disappointed!

I had foot surgery and was told to ice it several times a day to help alleviate the swelling. I purchased two of these upon the advice of my physician. This is THE best product ever for this purpose! It ices the entire radius of the foot...not just the top or bottom. It rolls on easily, which was important due to the sensitivity of the top of my foot where the incision is. I liked these so well that I purchased one for my husband's knee and he loves it also. Absolutely I would recommend this Torex product to anyone. Even now...six months after surgery... I still experience some swelling and keep an extra one of these at work so I can have it when I need it.
