I find this Kinesio tex gold tape to work much better then K-tape. K-tape is pre-cut which doesn't leave you a lot of options. Kinesio tex gold is not pre-cut so you can choose the length you want. It also sticks to your skin much better then K-tape.
Remember to clean the area with alcohol to remove any oils from your skin before you tape. This might sound insane but my chiropractor's office sold me a liquid that is intended for use in your mouth that acts as a very strong glue to hold the Kinesio tape on for DAYS. The brand is Humco. It's called Benzoin Tincture oral mucosal protectant. If I apply this liquid BEFORE I put the tape on, it will stay on for a full 5-6 days! Otherwise it starts to peel in 2-3 days. The liquid glue-type bottle lasts forever too. I use a q-tip to apply. I have been using a 2 oz bottle for at least 6 months.

As a physician, I was doubtful about the ability of this type of taping in helping my knee and back. However, I was talked into it by a friend. I was pleasantly surprised and it has given me an alternative to wearing a Professional Donjoy knee brace. It is comfortable and surprisingly supportive. I would recommend that if you are interested find a certified kinesio taping practitioner in your area.

I've always gotten shin splints from running; regardless of shoe, surface or speed. I started running again recently after a few years off and after gaining about 25 pounds on a weightlifting regimen. The shin splints were back with a vengeance; I could barely get a mile in (and this at a laughably slow pace)before I had to throw in the towel. After trying all the typical remedies (stretching, proper hydration, starting out slow to warm up the muscles...the combination of which worked worked to an extent), I decided to try the Kinesio tape on a friend's recommendation. I'm not gonna say 'miracle cure', but it certainly helped to a degree I definitely did not expect from what appears to be simple athletic tape with a wavy texture on the adhesive side. I'm no longer limited by my pain tolerance, but conditioning (which is awful at this point, but at least I can complete a 5k without wanting to sever my legs).

I've had severe constant pain for weeks following knee replacement surgery. My Physical Therapist applied Kinesio Tex Tape and I've had such an immediate reduction in pain, I've been able to stop taking most pain medication. It stays on 3-5 days and stays on during water therapy. Caution: Do not use this product unless you've received instruction from a trained physical or occupational therapist.

I bought Kenesion Tex Classic tape to help me with my Plantar Fasciitis. I bought KT TAPE PRO Synthetic Elastic Kinesiology 20 Pre-Cut 10-Inch Strips at the same time; Kenesio was less expensive and I figured I would "practice" with it before using the more expensive KT. So I started with the Kinesio... for two 'treatments' or wraps.

I have to say that I like the Kinesio better than the KT. First, it just seems to provide better support.

Second, I used the Kinesio twice for almost a week each time with no allergies, skin problems, etc. However, after using the KT after the first time, for less than time than the Kinesio, my skin was all dried out and peeling in a number of areas so it seems that there is something in the adhesive that my foot didn't like.

And last, the KT did not stay on my foot as long as the Kinesio did. Bottom line, I would buy the Kinesio again.

If you use the Kinesio, remember to round off the corners; it will stay on much longer. 90 degree corners will start to come off a lot faster than rounded edges. The KT was nice in that it came with rounded corners. ( I used the KT as the pattern for rounding my Kinesio tape.)

The taping did seem to help lessen the pain of the fasciitis and allow me to spend more time on my feet. I watched several videos before deciding on how to tape it and tried a couple of different patterns before finding one that worked best for me. I also purchased a night splint and heel inserts and the overall treatments seems to help unless I do more than normal standing or walking.

My chiropractor has another brand of Kinesio tape, and I wanted to have some on hand for in-between visits with my chiro. I put this on both of my knees, experimenting with 2 different taping techniques. On my left knee, the corners of the tape started coming up immediately. I stuck it back down with a Bandaid. On my right knee, same thing. One corner was immediately peeling up. I did not stick that down with a Bandaid.

The following day, I took a shower. The right knee tape started peeling up pretty good once it got wet, so I just took it off. I noticed a small area on my skin that was a bit rashy, looking like either blisters or pimples. Either way, it's not uncomfortable, but certainly disconcerting! Also, after the shower, it took a long time for the tape on my left knee to dry out. I took a blow dryer to it. I don't remember that happening with the brand of tape my Chiro uses, however, my Chiro only does one layer of taping and my knee has on 2 layers in some places.

I will be trying another brand for my next order.
