    This Permafelt derby was exactly what I was looking for to complete a Charlie Chaplin costume. If you're wondering what Permafelt is as I was, it is a hard molded fabric with the texture of felt. The construction of this hat is very sturdy. Although hard to tell from the product photo, it does have a high profile which is what I was looking for to duplicate Charlie Chaplin's look. The hat is "one size fits most", but it sits rather high on a 22" inch head. So, if you want your bowler to sit low on your head this is not the hat for that unless you have a small head or you are purchasing it for a child. Overall, this is an excellent costume bowler at a great price.

    This derby hat features extremely cheap construction. It basically feels like it was made out of cardboard or possibly even something cheaper. This is NOT a hat that you could wear day to day and feel comfortable in, not to mention that it is extremely small. A party favor or costume piece only, but if that's what you're looking for it works reasonably well.

    If I were planning to use this hat for more than one or two halloween parties, I'd keep looking. The material on the top of the hat was so thin in places I could see through it (when it was fresh out of the box). Additionally, the hat was prone to "denting" every time I took it off. Easy to pop back up, but got annoying.

    Bang for the buck, probably worth it, but don't expect this to be a high quality product.

    The hat looks good out of the box. It runs a little big. The hat is light weight and very stylish. I bought this for my son for a school function. I would not recommend getting this wet as it feels like it is made of lightweight material. The seams look well made. The shipping was super fast. I would recommend this as a quick way to spruce up and suit or for prom.

    The hat is perfect for what we needed it for. It is large on my 4 year old but we are adding elastic to keep it put. Came quickly and was as expected. gave it 4 stars for size. Thought it would be smaller.

    Nice Derby but not Chaplin's. His Derby was smaller, had less curvature to the brim and the ribbon had a slight bow on the right. Even so, this works if you are not that particular and it's just for Halloween. It should fit slightly small for the head if you are going to use it for that Chaplinesque look but it is a fairly good sized hat.

    I bought this to use as part of a Charlie Chaplin impersonation. It looks fine, the felt is relatively cheap but it is NOT (as one reviewer claimed) plastic.

    Now, I have a pretty large head for a woman (in sized women's hats I tend to wear a size large or even extra-large), and Chaplin wore a tiny hat that sat high on his head, so based on the reviews for this product I thought that it might be just the ticket -- that it would, for normal uses, be too small, and would ride high on my head or be quite tight if pulled lower. Much to my surprise, this hat was much too big. I still used it for my impersonation, since I didn't have to do anything too terribly acrobatic, but I had to pad the inside in order to make it sit at the right height, and I couldn't do any schtick with it since its large circumference meant that it flopped around quite a lot.

    So I'd say, this is a fine hat for costume purposes for people with very large heads, or who want the effect of a comically oversized hat.
