I have owned a Sizzix Big Shot (blue) machine for a few years. Up until recently, I only used Sizzix brand dies/embossing folders, so I didn't have a need for the extra accessories. After discovering how fabulous Spellbinder and Memory Box wafer dies are, I had to upgrade. This is just one necessary purchase to create the perfect sandwich in order to use these die cut/embossing wafers. You will also need Sizzix BIGkick/Big Shot Texturz Accessory-Impressions Pad 8.875"X5.875"X.125" Sizzix Accessory Solo Platform and Shim Sizzix 655267 Accessory - Cutting Pad, Extended, 1 Pair Sizzix Accessory, Solo Wafer-Thin Die Adapter There is a fantastic instructional video on Youtube (The Do's & Don'ts of the Sizzix Big Shot & Tim Holtz Vagabond with Scrapmadesimple) that demonstrates exactly how to make the right sandwich for what type of die and embossing folder you are using.
I have found the Spellbinders Junior Magnetic Placement Mat Spellbinders GC-015 Grand Calibur Junior Magnetic Placement Mat (or any piece of flexible magnetic sheet cut to fit) to be helpful when die cutting multiple dies.Read more ›

This works great with my Cuttle Bug machine for embossing dies. I have since found out the Cuttle Bug makes their own embossing mat but at the time I did not know it. It is the same size as the Cuttle Bug plates.

If you use framlites that you can also emboss this is what you will mead to get the job done! Keep in mind this is NOT to be used as a crease pad!!! If you try it you will have to purchase a new one. If the die calls for a crease pad you want to purchase a crease pad! Trust me I have learned the hard way!!!

This is the perfect pad for getting those dies that have extra spots that can be popped up with embossing. Use this pad with the Precision base plate and you get a great embossed image on your die. Known as the "squishy" on the scrapmadesimple You Tube videos...this is such a useful mat for the big shot machines. in the photo...the left side is before embossing... on the right is after embossing...you can see a raised oval close to the scallops. It is a great way to add that extra will pizzazz to your die cuts. (When you use this...it will not cut the card stock as well..it will just add the dimension to the die cut that you have. )

It was recommended for the Texturz by Sizzix for my Big Shot and am getting good results. Since I am new at machine embossing, I'm hoping that the depth of the pattern is as far as it will go. After working with it, I think that each of the patterns have their own style and depth. I have one Cuttlebug Swirl pattern and it seems to go just a bit deeper BUT if the core is white, it can show through. So I think it's a learning and experience curve but it DOES take my cards another notch up!

If you are doing any embossing folders you really need a Sizzix Texturz Accessory. Spend the extra money and buy it. Your results will look 100% better in the end. You can use it on most other brands embossing folders too. For example cuttlebug and Darice work in my Big Shot just fine with it. Tip: when I rubber stamp I use the mat underneath my paper for a more crisp image. In addition if you have any brass stencil's that you use a stylist tool, put your mat underneath the paper too. Your image will thank you for it. Happy Crafting.

I bought this silicone rubber to use with my brass stencils in the Cuttlebug machine, it works great. I do my sandwich with the A plate, B plate, brass stencil, silicone rubber, shim (just a piece of thin cardstock) and the other B plate, it works great. The silicone rubber is the same size as the regular Cuttlebug plates.
