Stylish but limited use, November 25, 2008

This oven is aesthetically pleasing but takes up a lot of counter space. It seems a lot of thought went into the design , for example the nice weight cooking pan has a separate lift bracket with stay cool handles. However, if the top part were just 2 inches talller it would have more functional use. I cooked Ore-Ida oven fries in it on the supplied non-stick pan and they were quickly cooked perfectly with an enhanced potato taste. Then later I cooked manicotti in a small and shallow rectangle glass Pyrex dish. Part of one of the top elements had burned melted cheese on it. Both items cooked much quicker than if I had used my regular sized convection oven or my convection microwave oven since no warm up period was required. However, it seems everything has to be place only on the cooking pan which is about the size of a medium frozen pizza. This greatly limits the everyday use of this oven. I had hoped since my toaster-oven recently died that this item would take it's place, but that is not the case. I will probably still use it for fries and frozen pizza, but if I'm baking cookies, a cake or a pie then I'll use my microwave or full sized oven.

The countertop convention toaster/oven of the future, November 26, 2008

No more soggy pizza or hard biscuits that come from microwaving leftovers. The QuikServe Oven is the best thing since the original counter top convection/toaster oven. The smooth, stylish modern design is what caught my eye first. Does not look like a bulky oversized square metal box. I first used it cook was frozen chicken nuggets and they cooked in 11 minutes compared to the 18-20 minutes it normally takes in a regular oven. The following day we tried a self rising crust frozen pizza and it cooked evenly but just be careful of the rising flour because it will brown more quickly and might even touch the top element if the dough expands very high. This is perfect for two to three serving portions of foods to cook like French fries, mozzarella sticks, frozen waffles, toast, bagels, pizza and reheating most foods. This is a perfect gift for a single person or couple. I don't think I will attempt to make meats such as pork chops or chicken since I worry about the meat's juices splattering on the top element and causing smoke and a mess inside since it does have height limitations. No preheating is needed for most foods and the rotating round tray is wonderful to make sure foods cook evenly and stay warm when the cooking time is up. One feature that is great for homes with little fingers is that the unit will NOT operate with the lid open.

MORE USES THAN WE'D IMAGINED !, December 6, 2008

With a state of the art design this is a wonderful wedding gift for a young couple on the move. When both are working there's little time to be spent in the kitchen and this handy QuikServe Oven easily and quickly heats a frozen meal for two.
It's also great for a cabin or trailer. When we're relaxing at the lake I don't want to spend my time cooking. However, there are often quite a few hungry young mouths to feed so this is great for heating their favorites, whether they have a yen for mini pizzas, fish sticks or pre-frozen cookies.
When it's just the two of us I can reheat takeout, fix hot sandwiches for lunch or make breakfast toast (frozen waffles on Sunday!)
Very pleased.
