My girlfriend is learning mandolin so her fingers are getting pretty sore. Thankfully I found these strings which are light enough to cut her some slack while she builds up strength and durability in her fingers. They sound great and made her mandolin sparkle without creating any ear splitting off notes. When she decides to bump up the gauge I'll definitely try another set of these.

I had an antique taterbug mandolin that was struggling a lot with the regular gauge strings. These ultra lights did the trick, and the overall tone is much better. With the heavier strings I was getting a strange echo that made the tone drop very apparent. These strings gave an old, delicate instrument a much steadier tone and ring.

Strings vary and different instruments, but these are worth a try if you've never used them. I'm using them on a Collings and find that they pull out the sound of the wood more than the sound of the strings. A great value too, and they last about as long as everything else. Recommended.

I purchased these strings on the recommendation of an "expert" for my old bowl back mandolin. The instrument is old and delicate enough that the "Ultra Light" strings just make sense. They play and sound great.

These strings are smoother than the D' Addario that I use which makes them a good choice for when it comes to comfort of playing. The D' Addario strings have more volume and tone to them which makes them better for that extra punch. I like both for different reasons so I plan on trying the GHS A260 and A270 sets too.

I prefer the tone I get from these strings to the other brands and gauges I've tried. The A string in particular seems to be especially warm and vibrant. I play mostly bluegrass and old time, including a lot of fiddle tunes.
