I've always had exceptional eyesight (20/10), but as I've grown older I've been noticing a decline in my vision. After doing some research I decided to start taking a Lutein supplement. I wanted a supplement that contained at least 20mg of Lutein at a reasonable price. This Jarrow Formulas product fit the bill, so I ordered a bottle. I've got about a week's worth left and I can definitely say my vision has improved. I can't say it's solely from the Lutein because I also quit drinking soda/pop after finding out that Aspartame is bad for eyes. Additionally, I started taking a Bilberry supplement around the same time I began taking this Lutein. Regardless, I know my vision is improving so I will continue to take Lutein and Bilberry supplements. Thanks for reading.

My ophthalmologist recommended that I start taking lutein and recommended that I take Preservision. This has 10 more milligrams than Preservision and in the stores is about $20 less a month and is recommended by the staff at Sprouts. Then I found it at Amazon. The price at Sprouts in $19, and I saved almost $13 by having it auto-shipped, and there is no shipping cost. I am very please, especially as it is necessary to my vision that I take this. This pill itself is a gel-tab and is fairly small and easy to take.

This is a product I have been taking for about 3 months now.
THIS brand is a new one to me but all in all it appears to
be the same product and the price is much lower than my last
'brand name'. I am taking this primarily because my Mother
has taken it for about 1 yr. and had her eyes tested and her
vision actually got 2% better. I have hopes of just protecting
my vision...if my vision gets better that is just a bonus!

For some odd reason, my left eye's vision was really bad. Even if I changed my glasses prescription, in two weeks or so, my left eye dried out quicker and everything seemed brighter from my left eye's perspective.

I've tried acupuncture, eye/gel drops, eye masks, and eye lid cleaners which did work, but the effects did not last long. I then tried this product as my last option, and boy was I not disappointed.

This lowers the light intensity and brings more color to my left eye; on certain occurrences, it feels as if my left eye sees more clearer than my right eye.

Use this product with eye drops to nourish your eyes!

Supplements are tricky. They are not regulated like traditional drugs and can make all sorts of claims. Take Lutein for example. It is supposed to be important for eye health and result in improved vision. But is this truly the case? And then there is the matter of psychosomatics. You think that the supplement has improved things when, in reality, it may be just your perception that things have improved. Sometimes it is our imagination that, in itself, caused the improvement. Please keep this in mind as you read my review of Jarrow Formulas Lutein.

Having offered my disclosure, I can now say that I noticed an immediate improvement in my eyesight after taking Jarrow Formulas Lutein 20 mg. Not eventually, not over time, not after-a-while. Immediately.

Things were fuzzy in the morning for me. I had trouble reading small fonts when I first awoke. It took my eyes several minutes, perhaps a half hour, before the haze passed out of my eyes. That was before taking Jarrow Formulas Lutein. Now I see clearly as soon as I awake.

This is a truly amazing result from taking any supplement. Is it real or is it Memorex? I can't say. The improvement was rather dramatic and rather fast. I will leave it up to you to decide if this is a figment of my imagination or a real improvement due to taking Jarrow Formulas Lutein. All I can say is that the improvement was noticeable and real to me. Of course, your results may vary.

Lutein is a substance found in many vegetables, but especially leafy ones like spinach and kale. It's known for its contribution to eye health, since it can be found as a pigment in the human eye. It is believed to act as a light filter, protecting the eye from damage. However, lutein has also been linked (less conclusively) to cancer and heart disease prevention.

While lutein is typically found in multivitamins these days, the amount is often very small. Fortunately, Jarrow Formulas provides a larger source of lutein, at 20mg (from marigold petal extract). This is the amount consumed in the diets of some non-American population groups. The formula also includes 1mg of zeaxanthin, which is similar in structure and function to lutein.

Jarrow Formulas has a good reputation and adheres to the FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices. Since supplements are unregulated, it's good to know that Jarrow takes the quality and potency of its supplements very seriously. I feel confident I'm getting what is on the label of the bottle.

The pills are peanut sized softgels that are easy to swallow. In addition, the price is very reasonable. Since lutein is fat soluble, the recommendation of one softgel a day may be a little unnecessary. One every two to three days would be more economical. But, since it dissolves in fat, it's important to take with food.

Overall, I'm impressed by Jarrow's lutein formula. I take a lot of supplements daily (including other lutein formulas) and am very impressed by the quality of the product.
