My installation of the LinkLite Battery monitor is in a boat with two banks of batteries. One bank is a single AGM group 31 starting battery and the other bank is the House bank consisting of 2 AGM 8D's. I never really knew who much was left in the house bank until I installed this and that is the main reason I purchased it. It is very useful and well worth the money. As good as it is I think they could have made the unit even better and expandable.

1) It really only monitors one battery bank. (in terms of amp hours used and % charge). It "monitors" voltage of a second bank but that is it. This is OK and I figured that out from watching a video review on YouTube but the advertisements and info make it sound like it it can do two banks. I realize I could have bought 2 of these to monitor amp hours of both banks but this works OK, it was the house bank that concerned me as this sees the most discharge. I think they could have come up with a unit that was expandable for multiple banks using multiple shunts. But for what it is it works well.

2) The connection kit is separate. While I suppose you could rig up your own and save a few bucks I would highly recommend you just buy the kit. It should be part of the overall package. The connection kit is overpriced but you get the right twisted paired wires all color coded along with the fused ends and directions for doing an easy install. If you have ever worked in the bilge of a boat doing wiring this kit is not a luxury but a necessity.

3)the menu layout is simple and the display is easy to understand.

4) The directions were understandable but could have been laid out in a more clear manner. Also I prefer instructions that don't have multiple languages on the same page like that...

I have two batteries in my Aliner Ranger popup camper. This is the best battery monitor there is. Not cheap, but well worth it. The ability to monitor total amp hour usage is what makes it way better than a plain voltmeter. Some electrical knowledge helpful to install.

This is really a rebadged Victon monitor in a nicer looking display. I own both. I use the Linksys in my camper and the Victron in my boat.

First let me say, that this is an essential piece of monitoring equipment. It keeps track of power in and out of our battery bank. in Amp Hours. It also gives you a percentage of capacity as well as a number of reporting functions. This particular unit also monitors voltage of a second bank--useful for a starter motor battery.

When I first started using this, I monitored it constantly to access the charging capabilities of my solar array, and to determine what the loads were on my battery bank. I was able to tell exactly how much power I used for an electric blanket I was using in my camper, and balance that off against the power used by my camper furnace, or see that not using the furnace (blower) offset some of my electric blanket useage. After a year or more, I now only periodically use this to check the state of charge. I have real confidence in my battery bank. You can also pull up reports on cycling and other factors. It turns out that my battery cycling is much less than I thought, because I went big on my battery bank and rarely go below 75% state of charge. Because of this detailed knowledge, I know I can switch to an all DC powered refrigerator. Without a battery monitor, and an undersized battery, you could easily wear out a fresh batter.

The cables for this are relatively expensive. Some of these are used for alarms to control, say a flashing light, audible alarm, or for turning on a genset or something like that. I don't use these. I purchased the cables and have enough spare wire to wire in a second Victron monitor on my boat.
