Although Neoprene is closed cell foam, this particular formulation does not rebound well after compression. This product may be fine for sound absorption, for example, but it's terrible for applications where, under a constant compressive load, you would like it to have some remaining "sponginess". When you handle the material, it SEEMS like it will rebound nicely; it's very bouncy between your fingers. Some neoprene formulations seem to handle frequent compression quite well, but NOT this product! The gas is readily squeezed out of the material and it becomes as thin as heavy paper. Don't use it for applications like shoe insoles, where constant pressure will squeeze it flat - essentially permanently.

After researching many materials to dampen the sound in my car after installing a new sound system in my car, I ordered this product in lieu if buying Dynamat.

At first I was skeptical since it tore easily when I was doing a resistance test, but once installed on my trunk lid, I was amazed at how well it performed.

I use this material for a variety of purposes, but primarily to isolate surfaces from sound transmission. I also make cushioned feet for sound equipment to keep it from sliding when I set it on a hard smooth surface. Works well between studio monitors and monitor stand, or between monitor stand and floor.

This works great for paintball. I've used it on paintball coveralls after bringing them in to be altered. It can be also cut down individually to fit into pockets front and back and on the side cargo pockets for added protection from paintballs without interferring with movement. I'm about to order another since I used up my initial order.

With some E6000 glue and this neoprene I have done two builds and still have plenty left over. Sound levels at 18-21dB and Running heavy load temps on build do not go over 45c. Although that has a lot more to do with the heatsink, thermal compound, airflow, and ambient temp of the room; the point is that the material does not cause issue for heat in the build. Cost wise using this material took my soundproofing cost from $36 a build to just under $9!
