I bought this lift because my elderly mother lives with me and she is unsteady on her feet and falls on the floor sometimes. The good thing is that she rarely falls hard enough to get hurt, the bad thing is that she has dementia and becomes very upset and is than not able to help get herself up. So I shopped on the internet to find a lift that would go all the way down low enough to the floor that I could use it to get her up even if I am home alone. This lift is great. I have used it to get her up after a fall, so I am very happy that I spent the money for it. It works just the way I needed it to work. It goes low enough to hook the lift pad on, and it is easy to use even if you are alone. This lift will help me to keep my mother out of a nursing home and that makes both of us happy. This lift is well worth the money and Amazon is excellent as always for quick delivery and customer service.

Bought this for my bedbound Mother, so we can easily move her around. It is very easy for one person to use and a great value! Quick delivery as well, but it came freight (signature required). Just wanted to write a review and note that the lift I got is powder coated, not the chrome pictured. It was fabulous, as it's a beige color that matches the area where my Mom sleeps! I'm very happy with this purchase, especially since I would've had to pay close to $200/month to rent one. (Also note that this is only the lift, and you'll have to purchase the sling & straps/chains separately.)

Though it looks a little complicated, it is really pretty simple to use. (And easy to assemble)
Position the sling carefully under person being lifted,
Secure chains with S hooks pointing (of course) away from person being lifted. Short chain length on back
longer on front. Maneuver Lift over person to be lifted (can go low enough to lift from floor)
EXPAND/OPEN and LOCK the base. Attach rings to either side of hoist.
Person being lifted should "hug themselves" to keep hands and arms inside sling,
then use the lever (kind of like jacking up a car) to raise. You can then carefully use release switch to lower person
slowly to chair, or commode etc. Wish we had purchased this a long time ago.
(yes you do have to purchase sling & chains separately) Still worth every penny and them some

First of all, they dropped a digit in the "Product Features" section:
That should say 450-pound weight capacity, not 50-pound weight capacity... makes a bit of a difference there.

Secondly, I was prepared to pay up to $1000 for a good patient lifter. I was amazed at the price. I was even more amazed when it arrived and it was brand new, and easily assembled. I couldn't be more pleased with this.

The lift worked, but it is slow. I suppose slow is better for those being lifted. But we need it to get my mom up to use the bathroom and by the time we get her in the sling, connect it, lift her and get her to the bathroom, it is too late. So not helpful for us. It does work though.

arrived within a few days in perfect condition. it was very easy to set up and works well for us. My husband felt safe being moved around and I had no problems operating the lift. I found the price attractive, especially since renting such equipment frequently adds up to way more than the purchase price. We are very pleased with this product. If you have not used one of these lifts before, be aware that they do not roll easily on carpet. we've "tried out" at least 10 different ones over the years and this one is not any worse or better than the rest of them. Invacare is a very good and reliable brand, we own one of their electric lifts as well. This hydraulic one is used and stored at a relatives house out of town for when we visit.

My family member is not a very big person-a heavier weight lift would be necessary if he were. However, this lift is easier to maneuver and fit in tight spaces than others that sell for twice as much. Don't forget to buy a sling along with it if you need one. These things are never fun to use on folks, but if they are necessary and your patient is under the weight limit, get this one. It does the job and the price isn't horrible like the other ones are. So far, I have not used an Invacare product that I did not like. It does come in a box and some assembly is required. I find that traumatic, so I didn't watch my young helper put it together. However, she came back in a very short while with the whole thing assembled and in good working order.

This is a great lift! It is worth every penny we spent! It helps us to move my mother much more comfortably and makes it so easy for us, the caregivers, to move her. She was a bit nervous the first time but the lift is so well balanced there was no danger of her sliding out of the sling or tipping backward. The only thing I would change is that her legs bump into the upright post on the lift--if she could be a bit farther back from it that would make it better. It isn't a serious drawback though.

I definitely recommend this lift. In our case we are able to keep her at home, rather than for her to have to go to a nursing home because we can move her so easily.
