Important Information

Directions
Unfasten all straps and hook and loop. Position the heel against the back of the device, making sure it is seated firmly. Attach each of the straps, adjusting so that there is a comfortable tension holding the foot in place. In a seated position with the shin at a 90 degree angle to the floor, tighten the medial and lateral straps until you feel tension. Insert the toe wedge (wide portion facing the toes) under the ball of the foot to provide additional stretch, as needed. Place the ice pack in the freezer and then position from the ball of the foot and around the heel to provide cold therapy relief.

I have plantar fasciitis. Not the worst but very annoying. I have tried orthotics, anti-inflammatorie and ice. I also tried a bulkier foot splint, but it had too much give and I could wiggle my way out of it. This splint is MUCH better because of the side straps. Very adjustable. Took a night or two to get used to it, but it is quite comfortable and not hot like some splints. Even though the size is right I still have a little wiggle room. This is actually a good thing because I can move my foot a little and not feel restricted. It is still held enough in place to work well.

You can walk (or rather amble) in it fine. It is less bulky than many splints and even fols flattish if you have to pack it.

I have used it for one month and my foot is 60% better. I anticipate it healing even further.

Two issues:

1) The ice pack is a good idea but it gets hard and doesn't fit well. If you use ice it would be better to fit a small comfortable ice pack under it. Or better still, ice with it off, then put it on.

2) To get a better stretch you can remove the side velcro straps from the intended holes and insert them through the other ones of the ones where the top strap goes. I don't think it is designed for this but it works amazingly and gives incredible control.

It is a good price and highly recommended.

I was waking up every morning with "start up" pain in my ankle due to severe arthritis. My orthopod recommended a night splint ordered online. I couldn't find a place to try on any of these devices so I just had to guess which one to order.

I hate stuff on my legs and feet while I'm sleeping so I wasn't sure whether this would be tolerable. I read reviews of other styles and just took a chance on the way this one looked.

I've just had it two nights, but it's comfortable: How?

It gives room for a little side to side mobility while my foot is still held as firm as necessary.
Also my foot and leg can breathe as there are enough openings around the velcro held straps.
It has enough adjustability so it doesn't cut off circulation and it feels soft against my skin.
There are just enough straps to adjust so it will fit to your foot.

It WORKS! No "start up" pain in the morning. I'm 62 and I've had this pain for about 5 years so this is no small thing. Also, with no cartilege left in my ankle, the stretching exercises for the plantar fasciitis are not an option.

Get one of these now while the price is good.

I've been using this for a few weeks now and I can say it does what it's supposed to do - keep your toes up to alleviate the morning pain associated with plantar fasciitis. But... the bottom of the boot will curve over time so the heel and the toes are at the ends of the U shaped boot. I don't think this is the way the item is supposed to be worn, but it continues to be effective as far as the morning pain.
The straps are nice in that the boot is fully adjustable and if you criss-cross the velcro straps (as opposed to wearing them as pictured) then you can get a firm grasp and no sliding of the foot overnight - be careful not to tighten too much and cut off circulation, though! The ice pad is a nice touch, but the coolness doesn't last long (but then, I hear you should not ice for over 15 min, so I guess it lasts long enough?)
My main peeve is the hard plastic that supports the boot from behind. This makes it hard to find a comfortable position at night and this, added to the heat generated by the gray fabric, could make your night an uncomfortable one. Considering that you will need to wear this for at least a couple of weeks, maybe you need to find an alternative. I purchased another boot without the straps, which is a lot more comfortable to wear, but the fabric stretches and it's hard to keep the heel in place all night. I've been switching the two at different intervals and this has been helpful, but some pain still remains after 4 weeks. This treatment, in combination with physical therapy and toe exercises (grabbing marbles with toes and moving them from left to right for about 15 minutes; picking up fabric from the floor with your toes) are supposed to be the cure. My two physical therapy sessions (deep massages from toe to knee)made the pain disappear for days so I suggest you try this in addition to the boots. Heel pain remains after 4 weeks but rest of foot has improved considerably after wearing these.

When I first got the night splint, I would wake up in the middle of the night and my toes would be numb. I had a doctor's appointment and I took the boot with me. I wanted him to look at it. He thought it was well made and he really liked the idea of the ice pack that comes with it. He told me I was pulling back to far on the tension. You only need it to be about 5 degrees or so. Any more than that and your toes are going to get numb. It has given me some
relief, but the biggest relief I get is to massage my calf muscle and the Achilles Tendon area before getting out of bed. In fact he told me in a few years they will be doing surgery to lengthen the Achilles Tendon. Maybe that is most of the problem with people that think they have Plantar Fasciitis. Not to say it doesn't exist. I had heel spurs removed, left foot in 1999, and right in 2000. Ten years later my right foot hurts like the spur is coming back. That's why I went to the doctor. But no spur, just tight calf and Achilles Tendon. We are going to try therapy. After reading the reviews I wanted to share my experience. Also, when I had surgery they cut 2/3rds of my Fascia, which forms scar tissue and lengthens it. Good luck everyone, nothing more painful than
that first step out of bed!! Try the calf massage. I put my right calf on my left knee cap and move my leg over the knee cap and massage it that way(lying down, still in bed, left knee bent up). Gets in there deep!! Hope this helps!!!
